Marion 3, Virginia High 1

 

Garrett Bushnell’s second half goal snapped a 1-1 tie as unbeaten Marion won its Highlands District opener over visiting Virginia High.

 

Mikey Cisneros added an insurance goal for the Scarlet Hurricanes (7-0-1, 1-0), which owned a 1-0 halftime lead on Adam Freeman’s goal.

 

Nick Wisman tied it up for the Bearcats early in the second half.

 

Abingdon 9, Patrick Henry 0

 

Eight different players scored for Abingdon in its non-district shutout of Patrick Henry.

 

Edward Khon had two, while Joseph Finch, Nathan McMurray, Jared Stepp, Neil Henry, Tucker Barrett, Shane Stallard and Jared Beaty added one each for the Falcons (8-1).

 

Goalkeeper Daniel Mills recorded his sixth shutout for Abingdon, which visits Tennessee High April 28.
