Richlands soccer

Bottom line...Richlands has a girls team and a full schedule.Boys Varsity has a new coach and had cuts for the first time, because it has always been co-ed.Try-outs were "hell week", puking, hernias, pulled muscles, screaming and these were the football players. We will be weak again because we can never field 11 skilled players. What we lack in skill we have in heart and stamina, because we have to play harder than everyone else. We lost some good players last year Trent, Rose and Ward.Richlands has some good returning players...Lindsey, Tatum, Cole,Lil' Trent and Jessee at goal. Richlands has not realized that soccer requires the most athletism of any sport in the area and still doesn't even consider it a real sport. Richlands is a football town.

In high school soccer athleticism does give you that much of an advantage because of the abscense of overwhelming skill but in this area soccer is indeed underappreciated and is starting to recieve some respect especially in towns where winning is becoming a tradition.

Soccer in the entire SW portion of the state gets a bad wrap. Thing is, all of these rednecks around here only think that football is a sport. People are stupid about things that they don't know about. People who play it know that Soccer is awesome.
