Bluefield_Rules 46 Report Share Posted August 12, 2007 http://www.wvgazette.com/section/Prep+Sports/2007081132?pt=11 Right on Schedule For much of the past decade, Bluefield has had trouble filling out a 10-game regular-season schedule. Two years ago, the Beavers needed to play neighboring Graham (Va.) just to have nine games. Because of the program’s successful tradition (seven title-game appearances since 1995) and its remote location at the southern end of the state, West Virginia teams have dodged the Beavers for years. This season, after contracts were up with Herbert Hoover and Grundy (Va.), Bluefield picked up two more Virginia teams  defending Division 3 state champion Richlands and past state champ William Campbell, which went 9-1 last year. All of which has grown tiresome for coach Fred Simon. “They could make teams play us,’’ Simon said of state officials, “or they could put you in a conference. We’ve got enough teams here in the south if they ever wanted to do it. But if they don’t want to play you, they don’t have to. There’s nothing you can do about it.’’
