zack 10 Report Share Posted August 12, 2007 Bengals Perform Well at Concord University Bassett's Football Team traveled to West Virginia on Saturday to participate in a five team Jamboree Scrimmage. The Bengals competed against Graham, Richlands, and George Wythe High Schools. (Magna Vista was also in attendance, but Bassett did not compete with them) The Bengals showed signs of progressing well with their performance. Experience showed through with some outstanding plays made by returning players and players working to advance on the Depth Chart. Highlights from the Jamboree included a very effective running game with experienced Rashawn Woods, Justin Woods, Martin Scales, and Xavier Norman in the backfield. The line has to improve on pass protection as we had trouble finding open receivers due to pass protection breakdowns. Defensively, the front three consisting of Justin Woods, Dameon Hairston, and Andrew Miller continued to show their hard work in the off season paid off with outstanding plays made. The Inside Linebackers must show some improvement with reads and persuit of the ball. The defensive backfield was effective at times and still continues to need work on breaking on the ball. Overall, the coaches feel it was an effective scrimmage, but we still have A LOT of work to do to be the team we expect for this season. The Bengals host their annual Kickoff Jamboree this coming week and will compete against Western Albermarle and Gretna. The schedule is on the link in the margin on the left. 2007 Junior Varsity 2006 Roster 2006 Statistics 2006 Game Results 2006 Junior Varsity 2005 Statistics 2005 Game Results 2005 Junior Varsity Bengal Visitors Pictures of game action can be viewed compliments of Ray Reynolds @ piedmontdigital.com Bengals in the Community The Bassett Bengal Football Team will be out in the community doing activities from time to time.
