week 1 observations and comments

richlands is still very good-defense is ahead of offense-that is the sign of a well-coached team-maybe not as much experience equals a little less execution on offense early.

 

bassett is very good or carrol is that bad.can not tell right now but bassett has 25 seniors and that equals very good results on week 1.

 

pulaski only rushed for 108 yards against northside but passed for over 100 also. they had penalties which helped northside at key times.i knew northside would be better and they showed it with hard hitting defense, led by jon coppers little brother, i think his name is tyler but not sure. kicking won this for pulaski as northside missed an extra point.northside has 2 running backs who are very fast.

 

lord bototourt played their county rival who is smaller by half and won 36-7. not much to read here. bototourt is big and strong, as they were last year-this has been an improvement for this team since tater benson took over.this game was a money game for both schools.

 

george wythe is a lot better and tazewell is in rebuilding mode.

 

is amherst that good or is brookville not as good as hyped? salem will play them in 2 weeks and i dont believe they will score as much as they dont have that type of offense but brookville will probably play better. remember, pulaski slammed brookville during a scrimmage. remember, cave spring tied brookville during a scrimmage and they were beaten soundly by allegheny 27-7 last night in low moor.things will play out and we will see but amherst is extremely fast again aand they are fast on defense and offense. in order for somebody to beat them they will probably have to control the ball for large amounts of time. they have peter rose-going to va. tech, derrick mccoy, also tech bound and a young running back timmed at 4.4 in 40 yards.
