Blue Demons Pull Away Late To Top G-Men

Written by Scott Lawrence

Saturday, 01 September 2007

Christiansburg scored three consecutive touchdowns in the fourth quarter to pull away and defeat pesky Graham 34-14 last night at Mitchell Stadium in Bluefield.

Blue Demon quarterback Wes Bond would connect with Patrick Asconi on a 61 yard scoring strike just seconds into the game to open the scoring for Christiansburg (1-0). The Blue Demons would take a 7-0 lead after Brad Cox’s PAT.

Sid Brown would extend the Blue Demon lead to 14 when he ripped off a 38 yard touchdown run in the second quarter. The Blue Demon defense was up to the challenge as they shut out Graham (0-2) in the first half en route to a 14-0 lead at the break.

There would be no scoring in the third quarter, but the G-Men would make things interesting as a TD pass would cut the Blue Demon advantage to 14-6 in the fourth quarter.

Christiansburg would score 20 unanswered points to salt the game away. Miles Ailstock, Keith Johnson, and Zac Evans would all score on the ground as the Blue Demons turned the game into a rout at 34-6.

Graham would get a late Dominique Lane 24 yard TD run to close out the scoring.

Bond was the offensive star for the Blue Demons as he completed nine-of fifteen passes for 216 yards. Asconi caught five of those passes for 117 yards and a touchdown.

Lane would have a team-high 82 yards on the ground for Graham.

Christiansburg will play host to Giles next Friday night at 7:30 p.m. Get there early as this game is sure to pack in the fans early at Blue Demon Stadium.
