Sources 10 Report Share Posted September 7, 2007 At least it was discovered early on, whereas if it were found out later they could have been forced to forefeit twice that number of games and maybe even cost them a spot in the playoffs. Bluefield_Rules 46 Report Share Posted September 7, 2007 It could easily be overturned on appeal as two similar cases have been in the last two years...
Bluefield_Rules 46 Report Share Posted September 8, 2007 Here's some more information on this situation. One of the players on the team brought in a "doctored" grade sheet to show the coaches he was eligible to play. However, in the past week a new document surfaced that showed the kid was ineligible and Martinsburg self-reported themselves to the SSAC. The kid in question was a little used player that played in mop of duty in the first two games of the season. In my opinion the team shouldn't be punished for the stupidity of a single player, who factored insignificantly in the team's success. Furthermore, M'burg reported the issue as soon as they became aware of it. If the SSAC doesn't reverse this decision it'll be a real shame for remaining players...
