James Monroe at Wayne

Like I said, I won't be able to make this one, should be a beauty! Sat right beside Wayne's coaches in Lindside this afternoon. If there was one good thing to Magnolia controlling the clock and our injuries, it's that they didn't get a real good chance to study the single wing.

With that in mind, James Monroe gives itself a good chance next week it they keep Wayne's offense off the field, and, obviously, get into the endzone. The Mavs have done a good job not turning the ball over the last couple of games, continuing that will be a must. Safe trip to everyone going up next Saturday, and an even better trip back home!

As best I can tell, this will be the first time James Monroe has played Wayne since 1999 (pre-Witt and the singlewing). Wayne, 12-0, shares two common opponents with James Monroe this season in Mt. View and Tolsia. They've had two shutouts and have only had one game in which they allowed the opponent to score more than 20 pts (against Logan). As the defending 2006 WV AA Champions, you just know they'll be chomping at the bit for another trip to Wheeling and a chance for back-to-back championships. Although injured in round 1 of the playoffs, Wayne's Wilkerson and Endicott were both back in action for round 2. Wayne scored on 4 out of 6 Tyler Consolidated turnovers so one key for James Monroe is to hold on to that ball! Just like Magnolia found out on Saturday, you cannot turn the ball over when you get this far into playoffs. Also key for James Monroe will be how fast their own injured recover. At the very most now, there's only two more weeks remaining in this year's season. Hang in there, Mavs! Take care of business next weekend and then all your hard work and aches and pains will be rewarded and you'll have your first ever trip to Wheeling. BEST OF LUCK TO JAMES MONROE!!!!
