GetMoney55 11 Report Share Posted December 19, 2007 I was listening to a little bit of their game on the radio tonight and it was the fourth quarter and the game was winding down. The announcers were raving about Andrew Gunnoe, how he was unstoppable, dominated every aspect of the game, and basically that he could compete with Shaq. They announced how Gunnoe had reached the 40 point mark and then they said the score....it was 80 something to 32 in favor of Summers County. Now I dont know about anyone else here, but do you feel that it is very unsportsmanlike to have arguably the best player in the state still in the game when you are up by nearly 50 points and it is the fourth quarter? Being the 4th quarter and nearing the end of the game shouldnt even matter in this case..the fact is they were up by 50 and were still giving Gunnoe the ball every possesion and letting him score all the time. No wonder he was getting crazy stats because they were playing a very weak team. Im sorry, but I cant help but to think that whenever I hear of sitautions like this that every player on that team simultaneously tears their ACL. hokie07 11 Report Share Posted December 19, 2007 Gunnoe is an excellent player and is pretty much their only player. If you take Gunnoe out of the scenario then you merely have a JV team. He is that important to the team. I am a firm believer in sportsmanship, but without Gunnoe, Summers County is not strong at all. Padding stats or not, Gunnoe is a player. He drove to Bluefield almost every day at the beginning of last year and practiced and played in open gym with the Beavers. He seriously considered transferring to Bluefield last season and backed out at the last minute. I know that the team and coaches were ready to accept Gunnoe with open arms when he considered playing in the maroon and white.
GetMoney55 11 Author Report Share Posted December 19, 2007 yes I know he is a great player, which is why I stated that he is arguably the best player in the state, but it is unacceptable to keep him in the game when theyre up by 50 and late in the 4th quarter.
