dawgs05 10 Report Share Posted February 11, 2008 Does anyone know why they moved the basketball to the high school instead of the middle school? Is this a permanent move?
GMan 3,569 Report Share Posted February 11, 2008 Tazewell hoops returning to old haunts By LARRY HYPES Bluefield Daily Telegraph TAZEWELL, Va. — In a contest of “basketball the way it ought’a be†the Tazewell Bulldogs boys’ basketball team will return to its home for the first time in years when THS hosts Marion Monday night at the high school gym. From 1956 until the 1980-81 season, the Bulldogs boys played in their own school on a wooden floor before moving to the middle school facility. There were several seasons the Lady Bulldogs continued to use the high school gym. For at least one historic evening, Tazewell will return to its roots — in more ways than one. That last regular season contest in the THS gym was a one-point Graham victory over the Dogs, 67-66, on a basket by Johnny Quintier with 9 seconds remaining. Quintier poured in 34 points for the G-Men. When Tazewell moved over to the middle school for games, the Bulldogs’ Raymond Walker converted a pair of free throws with no time left on the clock to give THS a one-point win over Virginia High. Walker and Quintier plan to attend Monday’s game and will be honorary captains. The boys’ junior varsity contest begins at 6 p.m. and the varsity will follow at approximately 7:30.
