could this be the year for christiansburg?good numbers in the junior class,after great start last year, could not get over the hump against better teams except did beat blacksburg 16-8,almost beat bassett 34-38,but lost to pulaski 39-19 and salem 35-0-defense and physicality the key.

after losing ist game last year to giles in 6 ot,went on torrid run beating graham 55-7,liberty 35-6,lord bototourt 41-10,northside 37-26,cave spring 40-0,and hidden valley 52-14 before before being shut out by salem 21-0.my guess is , with good numbers they may not have the talent,although their quarterback returns,will be better on the line, which may be better against the better teams.they did beat pulaski 28-23.

flanked by nubian peak,4.28 40 yard dash before being signed by VA TECH, pulaski, although there are a few other very good teams and any of these teams are capable, is the favorite in this league.they may have 2 other d-1 players before the season is over,in 6-2 280 lineman josh miller and 6-0 230 pound brandon hazzard-they also return running back seth parris.pulaski has the talent and experience-will this be the year they dethrone or somebody else dethrones

unlike pulaski, salem returns little experience on offense.

they return 3 starting offensive lineman and the fullback,all good blockers-they also return a host of young athletes from 2 undefeated jv teams, including speedsters donte harvey,antonio medley,reggie barnett,stephen barnett,kirk coles,and derek hickman-what salem is hoping for is the defense will be enough early to give these youngsters some experience.

on defense they were no.1 in the region last year and return 6 starters,including ryan dowe and brandon turley,both physical and strong,3 linebackers in johnny walker,zak pritchett and lang hawkins,and kyle schwizer at safety,who had 148 tackles last year.

christiansburg,hidden valley and blacksburg could win it if they get a little better.one thing to look forward to-if salem and pulaski get out of gates early,the game will be SALEM AT PULASKI-MAYBE LOOKING AT 13-15000 FOR THAT ONE.
