hokie07 11 Report Share Posted October 7, 2008 http://www.hargrave.edu/athletics/schedule_event_popup.php?sevent_id=1706&season_id=128&category_id=18& Summary Hargrave PG 20 Marshall JV 0 In their third game in a week, the Hargrave PG Football team traveled up to Huntington, WV to take on the Thundering Herd of Marshall. The Tigers, although certainly fatigued from the extensive play, certainly didn’t look it en route to a 20-0 victory at Edwards Field. Hargrave got off to a good start on their first offensive possession which ended with a 35 yard touchdown pass from A.J. Blue to Devin Figaro. The Tigers second possession was very much like their first, and after 5 plays it ended with a 49 yard touchdown pass from Blue to Ansel Ponder. Blue ran in the 2 point conversion the next play to give the Tigers a 14-0 lead at halftime. In the second half it was more of the same for Hargrave: strong defense and big plays on offense. The lone touchdown of the second half was scored by Tyshon Goode on a 13 yard pass from A.J. Blue. On the offensive side of the ball, Blue was ultra-efficient completing 7 of 11 passes for 155 yards and 3 touchdowns and looked in control of the Hargrave offense throughout the game. He completed passes to six different receivers and did a good job of spreading the ball around. Blue also ran for 77 yards on 11 carries keeping the Marshall defense in check. Other offensive standouts included Onterio McCalebb rushing for 50 yards on 10 carries, and Devin Figaro who caught two balls for 61 yards and a score. Ansel Ponder a Bluefield, WV native caught a 49 yard touchdown pass, and did a great job blocking as well. Dan Polaski had yet another great game playing offensive tackle and he along with Bobby Massie and Anthony Oden helped to anchor a line that played well keeping Blue upright and able to complete passes downfield. Defensively, Leon Mackey and Austin Lancaster each recorded a sack, and Mackey and linebacker Kevin Reddick each had 3 tackles for loss. Hargrave defensive back Vernon Joines continued his solid play and intercepted his first pass of the season. Safety Jonathan Meeks had 6 tackles and two pass breakups, and linebacker C.J. Steward moved around a lot wreaking havoc on the Marshall offense wherever he lined up. The Hargrave PG football team is happy to be sitting at 6-0 after a tough week filled with road games, but also knows that there are more tough games upcoming. This week the Tigers will prepare to play Averett University at home sunday Oct 12.

Deleted Account 5,203 Report Share Posted October 8, 2008 take it? or hope for a better option? any opinions? I say take it There's no benefit in taking the first one that comes your way, especially since he'd have to wait until 2009 to suit up for a D-I program, anyway. Let the offers come in, then decide. GetMoney55 11 Report Share Posted October 8, 2008 Marshall isn't going anywhere. Wait on other offers to come in and examine all the choices. Never jump to the first opportunity.
