Beavers improve to 4-0

BLUEFIELD — For the second straight day, the Bluefield High tennis teams posted shutouts on their new courts at Bluefield’s Lotito Park. On Tuesday, the Beavers shut out Westside by 7-0 scores in both boys’ and girls’ play.

 

The boys allowed the Renegades only three games, while the girls won by margins of 8-1 or 8-2 with the exception of one doubles encounter.

 

Bluefield plays Liberty High on Thursday at New River Park in Beckley. The Beavers are at home Friday against Shady Spring. Saturday, Bluefield hosts both Independence and Charleston Catholic.

MARION, Va. — The Graham G-Girls shut down Marion on the Scarlet Hurricane’s courts on Monday, while the Graham boys team did the same at Fincastle County Club, defeating Marion 9-0. The G-Girls’ next match is Wednesday at Tazewell, while the G-Men will next travel to Abingdon on April 14.

TAZEWELL, Va. — Tim Butler defeated Sidney St. Clair 8-6 in the final match of the day, leading the Bulldogs to a boys tennis win over the Bears. Tazewell (1-1) will host Lebanon on Thursday.
