I have so seldom heard of such unimaginative playcalling in my life as Graham does now.

It's not a matter of IF D. Marrs gets relieved of his duties, it's WHEN.

Unimaginative is okay, if it works. But, as you can see, it's not.

Bluefield 41 Graham 0

4:09 in the 3rd quarter.

Patterson has scored 2 TDs, and threw for one.

Bluefield is using the Wildcat formation a LOT. Lilly taking snaps, Patterson taking snaps, and we know that Beckett can run when he takes snaps.

FINAL SCORE

Bluefield 48

Graham 7

Thoughts: Graham hurt themselves with turnovers, and the inability to get anything happening with their fullback dive.

Bluefield was able to keep Graham guessing when Bluefield had the ball. Lots of wildcat offense, with Beckett taking snaps, and then Patterson and Lilly.

Final stats (per the radio...take it at face value)

First downs: Bluefield 18 Graham 10

Rushing: Bluefield 341 Graham 58

Passing Bluefield 5-6-160 no ints Graham 8-16-83 1 int

Total offense: Bluefield 501 yards Graham 141 yards

Fumbles: Bluefield 4 (lost 1) Graham 7 (lost 3)

Individual stats:

Lilly 14 rushes 114 yards

Beckett 11 rushes 90 yards 4-5 109 yards passing

Patterson 11 rushes 82 yards

Maybe I am getting old, but Graham appeared at times to be running an option offense very similar to GA Tech. Beaver smothered the fullback dive and took away that option.

The thing that impressed me most about Beaver was that everyone looked long, lean and quick. Patterson and Lilly are a heck of a combination on both sides of the ball.

As for lining up Lilly and Patterson for the direct snap, it was an interesting wrinkle. The Patterson option pass was a beauty.

who was player of the game?

The radio named Beckett player of the game with 109 passing yards and a touchdown along with 90 rushing yards and a touchdown. Marcus Patterson could have very easily been player of the game in scoring three touchdowns three different ways. Jake Lilly played a monster game defensively to go along with 114 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
