Hokies vs. Duke

Recommended Posts

The Dookies are really stacking the box and daring the offensive genius that is Stinespring to call pass plays. Duke ran right down the field on the first possession with Thaddeus Lewis going 5 for 5 and hitting Brandon King for a 48yd td to take a 7-0 lead. Hokies have come back with 10 straight points. Gonna be tough sledding for Ryan Williams and company today, they have sold out for the run stop.

The defense has risen to the occasion the last two posessions with 2 three and outs. Hokies football at their own 28/ after the 6th penalty of the half (yet another block in the back)

The Hokies spread 4 receivers wide and ran up the middle with Oglesby getting runs of 4 and 17yds respectively. Another good drive for the Hokies ending with a T. Taylor 28yd TD pass to Boykin who wrestled it away from a Duke defender. After a long review the play stands. Cutcliffe is on the field pointing at the video board and both coaches have had a lot to say to the officials.

T. Taylor is 11-15 for 173 yards and 2 td's. Hokies lead 17-7 with 6:14 to go before the half.

Duke has run the ball a lot on this drive, they run the no huddle which doesn't allow the Hokies to sub. They have first down at the 19yd line with 2:15 to go.

QB draw to the 8yd line, fumbled but Duke recovered at the 11yd line. Nice strip by Cody Grimm (the kid is everywhere). Run across the 10 near a first down. 1:15 to go. 3rd down and a foot to go.

Watching the game on ESPN360...had tickets but didn't go. Definitely looks like VT is having a bit of a "let down" after the last two weeks...not much energy or enthusiasm on the field right now. Mental mistakes (read: penalties) are killing them.

Duke is playing very good and definitely doing what they wanted to do coming in...using the clock well and utilizing the TE and RB on pass plays.

I really expect the Hokies to wake up in the second half and take control of the game. If they don't, it could be Temple '98 all over again...

GO HOKIES!!!

1st - 5 yard loss

2nd - IP penalty

2nd - 9 yard completion

3rd - 74 yard pass to the 8

Blown coverages have led to two big plays for Duke today.

At least they held them to a FG.

I love that we can pass a bit now, just don't try and become "air Hokie".

I realize the defense sometimes dictates what you can do.

I new they were sending the house......

LOL what a weird day.........UVA and MAryland winning and Duke giving the Hokies all we want.

Bama just tore open a really close game. It was 7-6 Bama, and they scored on a long drive before the half to make it 14-6 with 30secs left. UK ran the ball and the Bama LB drilled him, it popped out into Bama hands who ran it in for a TD, now its 21-6 in a much closer game than the score.
