Tazewell will play Abingdon on Thursday in the championship game and Richlands will play Carroll County in the consolation game. Both games will be at Tazewell. The first game is slated to begin at 4:30.

After an earlier hour delay for thunder and lightning, Keisha Barton’s bippity-bop 20-foot roller down the third base line in the gathering darkness sent Lindsey Scribner home with the winning run as Tazewell rallied to score twice in the bottom of the seventh inning and won the Southwest District softball tournament 5-4 over Abingdon Thursday.

 

Tazewell (16-7) will play in Region IV action at home Tuesday at 5 p.m. against the number-three seed from the River Ridge District, while Abingdon will also host the River Ridge number-two seed. Richlands, which topped Carroll County 7-2 in the first game, qualified for the regionals and will also play Tuesday at 5 p.m. at Bassett.
