That didn’t change after Monday’s meet of the SWD schools at Fincastle Country Club. District leader Marion and the Graham G-Men, who are one win out of first, tied with 321 team scores. Richlands was eight strokes back in third place and Tazewell was fourth. Grundy rounded out the field in eighth. Morgan Brewster of Graham fired a 74 for medalist honors. Brandon White had the best round for Richlands (78), while Tazewell’s Ryan Lark and Blake Hash each carded 81s. Low score for Grundy was L.C. Mutter (88). Pin placements at Fincastle remained as they were for last weekend’s Pocahontas Men’s Amateur, adding to the challenge for the local high school golfers. The final Southwest District match of the regular season is Thursday at Tazewell Country Club. Marion or Graham will leave the course with the regular-season title and a bid to the regional.
