tbgfan 856 Report Share Posted May 10, 2011 Two Local Players Make All-State Basketball Team By Casey Goetz POSTED: 10:42 pm EDT May 9, 2011 Richmond, VA -- The Associated Press All Group A boys basketball team, as well as the player and coach of the year, as selected by a panel of sports writers from around the state: First team Dontae Carter, Radford, 5-9, senior Chris Ware, James River, 6-3, senior Paul Stone, Dan River, 6-6, senior Ryheem Lockley, Middesex, 6-4, sophomore Jerrell Jordan, Altavista, 6-4, senior Second team Brad Wooten, Eastern Montgomery, 5-8, senior Justin Hash, Galax, 5-8, senior Trevor Martin, Nelson County, 6-2, senior *Tyler Cooper, Hurley, 5-10, junior *Austin Cooper, Hurley, 6-4, junior Player of the year Dontae Carter, Radford Coach of the year Rick Cormany, Radford *Brothers Tyler and Austin Cooper from Hurley were second-team picks on the AP-All Group A team. Tyler, a 5-foot-10 junior, paced the Rebels in scoring with over 18 points a game while shooting better than 50 percent from the floor. Austin is a 6-4 junior. The Coopers led Hurley to the Region D, Division 1 title and the school's first state tournament berth in 18 years this past season.
