Haven't we created a culture of entitlement here, just in different ways. We have 20 somethings who have never been told by their parents NO. So many to day seem to think the world owes them something just because they are here. So bottom line question -- could we see similar riots here? Me thinks yes. If you were describing this as a bomb of truth, then you are accurate. But someone on Redeye the other day said that smart looters dont hit korean grocery stores, because they stay armed and will kill you. I digress. +
Hacker 82 Report Share Posted August 12, 2011 I knew it was rioting for stuff when the BBC was reporting on the looting of a Sony Distribution Center.
Guest The Variable Report Share Posted August 12, 2011 I knew it was rioting for stuff when the BBC was reporting on the looting of a Sony Distribution Center. Same here. Hell they just as much said it when they interviewed those two girls who said it was to "show the rich that they could do what they want". When I heard that, I wished I was there so I could punch them in the mouth and say "Hey look, I can do what I want." We have these Verizon strikes going on with more composed but hardly civil behavior by the protesters. When my dad ran the AT&T plant in Richmond during the strikes in the 80s, everyone on the picket line got the hell out of the way. His big 78 Ford pickup wasnt going to even tap the brakes for someone blocking the gates.

Because their lives in upper-middle class Europe are so terrible, definitely not better than 98% of the rest of the world...

This is a future snapshot of America!
