I don't know much about the legal system, but won't this make it hard for him to use the insanity case? Insanity doesn't mean what a lot of people think it means. It's a specific legal definition. This being said, two things: (1) Lawsuits will be aplenty in this case with this coming out. (2) The notebook, if it negates the insanity (either "does not appreciate the criminality of conduct" or "irresistable impulse"), may doom the case.
