Deleted Account 5,203 Report Share Posted June 26, 2013 hows that work? Sure. Virginia Code 58.1-3712 permits counties to tax at 1% of gross receipts of all coal/gas severed in the county. All counties that have coal/gas situate in them have enacted such a tax (almost goes without saying). 1% sounds like a tiny amount, but the definition of "gross receipts" is the subject of 8-figure lawsuits in some SWVA coalfield counties.
