Fairlawncat 252 Report Share Posted August 31, 2021 With Covid, weird weather phenomenon, and again, COVID, several teams/games are out on hold and the games either postponed or cancelled. It can happen lightening fast. Literally with one phone call and one or two test results and within a 15 minute period, a game can be cancelled and a program shut down. Because of this, the fragility of each game being a shaky thing whether it is played or not, it's best that games not be put off and scheduled, if possible to allow some lead way. Example...Stuarts Draft vs William Monroe. Draft was coming off quarantine and wanted to get 3 practices in instead of only 2, so they wanted to play the game Saturday at 3. They couldn't do that because of the heat index, so it got moved to Saturday night. They play a little of a quarter and lightening cancelled it. It was supposed to be made up last night and rain/lightening got it again. My point is, Covid is going to cause cancels. Teams better play ASAP, for example, if anyway you can play a game Friday night instead of Saturday, you should. Possibly even Thursday night in you can. Draft could have played this game Friday night and that bear William Monroe easily. They didn't need 3 practices to beat William Monroe. Draft could have played it at 10 or 11 AM Saturday and they chose not to. They pushed it to Saturday evening and this allowed no margin for error and they got burnt. Of all the times in our history and this Covid thing, this is the one time or one season that ADs and School Officials do NOT want to be choosey. You better play when you can and if you have a Saturday game, you might want to move that up. If it's a Friday game against an inferior opponent and inferior opponent agrees, you may want to move that game to Thursday night.
