BandanaVTDavis4321 1,717 Report Share Posted February 19, 2022 Radford mopped the floor with Appo tonight. Fort Chiswell crushed G.Wythe last night. Fort Chiswell is 20-4 on the season. The problem for the Fort is....Auburn. Parry McCluer will likely win 1C, but Auburn has a very solid team and is likely the 2nd best team in 1C. Fort plays Auburn tomorrow (Sat). McCluer, in their 3rd contest of the season with Narrows took the Green Wave to the shed by a score of 58-24 tonight. Alleghany beat Glenvar tonight. Alleghany isn't bad. They played James River a little over a week ago and only lost by 7 points. Most probably would agree it's James River heads above everyone in 2C and they will be 1 of the 2 to advance to state out of the region. All year, Radford, Glenvar, and Martinsville were in the discussion as to who gets that 2 spot out of the region, but Alleghany probably should also be in the conversation. Fort Chiswell lost to Auburn early in the year by 28 points. Looks like Parry McCluer out of 1C, but Fort Chiswell may be the favs to top Auburn for that 2 spot and advance to state.....depending on which Fort Chiswell teams shows up. The disadvantage for Fort Chiswell is.......they are the 2 seed from their distric behind Auburn as Auburn won the regular season, so Fort Chiswell is going to end up on Parry McCluer's side of the bracket and will likely play McCluer in the second round of the region tournament, which is likely the end of their season, but you never know. This team is really, really, really good when they show up. They are really, really, bad when they don't show up. Bland County beat them once. The Fort is similar to pigskin in play. Just never know from week to week which team takes the field or the court, and they've been that way for years. I know this sounds crazy, but if FC brings its A game, they have the ability to beat Parry McCluer. They also have the ability to lose by 30 points.
