not sure what an impact test on a player would consist of, but concussion protocol is very much required nowadays.  yearly refurbishing of helmets and stress tests on the equipment is conducted at the respected manufacturing/service site. Riddell I would imagine does a lot of that along with studies at VT.  Might be some online info available from either of those.

The VHSL Handbook (27-2-5) requires that prior to the first practice for all coaches of VHSL fall, winter and spring sports teams, these individuals must take a recognized course providing both education and prevention regarding concussion as it relates to high school activities.  The VHSL further strongly recommends that all participants and parents/guardians take advantage of the NFHS’s online video, “Concussion in Sports, What You Need to Know” to learn about the signs, symptoms and treatment of concussions.  The video takes approximately 15 minutes and is FREE.  To access the video go to nfhslearn.com.

Suggested Concussion Management:

No athlete should return to play (RTP) or practice on the same day of a concussion.

Any athlete suspected of having a concussion should be evaluated by an appropriate health-care professional that day.

Any athlete with a concussion should be medically cleared by an appropriate health-care professional prior to resuming participation in any practice or competition.

After medical clearance, RTP should follow a step-wise protocol with provisions for delayed RTP based upon return of any signs or symptoms.
