CBS4) HOLLYWOOD Windy conditions off the beaches of South Florida led to a drug discovery on Hollywood Beach Tuesday morning.

Police found a bale of cocaine washed ashore on the beach on the 3500 block of AIA. The bale contained thirty-seven pounds of the drug, or about eighty pounds.

The cocaine was wrapped tightly in cellophane and had likely been at sea for a month before washing ashore, said Capt. Tony Rode, a Hollywood police spokesman. The clear cellophane was coated with barnacles.

The cocaine is worth in excess of $400,000, Rode told CBS4.COM.
