Bluefield_Rules 46 Report Share Posted March 6, 2004 Bluefield wins its ninth AA sectional championship in its 10 years of being a AA school. The week long lay-off didn't seem to affect the Beavers tonight and they came out with plenty of emotion and focus. The Beavers led 23-11 after first quarter, 35-27 at halftime, 57-42 after the 3rd, and ran the lead out to 21 points in the fourth before PV made a mini-run at the end to cut into the final deficit. Garrett Patterson led Bluefield with 20 points, Kenny Bogart added 16, Dustin Wade had 12, and Tremayne Matthews chipped in with 10. The sopohmore, Matthews, played by far his best game of the season tonight in addition to his 10 points he had to have at least 10 rebounds. My hats off to PikeView for not quiting when they got down by 21 and the game was pretty much over. They kept fighting and deserve a tip of the hat for that. Bluefield will face Summers County, who defeated Liberty-Raleigh tonight, next Thursday night at Princeton High for the Region 7 championship. The winner advance to the state tournament and state quarterfinals the following week in Charleston.
