Bluefield_Rules 46 Report Share Posted August 14, 2004 Beckley scrimmaged Riverside and "won" 34-14 according to someone over at TSP. The poster stated that the Beckley defense forced a lot of turnovers. Things didn't go so well for Princeton today though. The Tigers were pounded to the tune of 41-7 by Huntington. On the bright side for Princeton, Huntington is considered one of the three best teams in AAA this season; I believe they're the best team. Beckley_WWHS 10 Report Share Posted August 15, 2004 Beckley outplayed Riverside 21-7 with the varsity in. Defense seems to have improved a lot with the LB trio of Parkulo, Peters, and Harbison. The defense was absolutely awful last season. Poor speed to go along with inexperienced sophomores and juniors starting made for a lot of mistakes. The defense must be much, much better this season with the schedule Beckley faces. They did show positive signs in the scrimmage. High hopes for the offense as well with TB Emeka Eneje, now a junior, adding 30 pounds in the offseason. He brings a combination of speed and power although a groin injury is bothering him now. People may be surprised with JJ Monroe. He is a big, powerful RB that had to sit out season because he was ineligible. He did get some playing time as a sophomore though. He did well in the scrimmage. QB Cayce Prunesti who returns at that spot is a great athlete and has a couple of good targets to throw to as well. The only area that needs some replacing is the line where Legursky (6'2", 310 guard) and Wickline (6'1", 315 center) both graduated. Hopefully they can fill those holes on the line. I'm hoping for this team to make big improvements over last season and surprise some people around the state that are counting them out.
