The Rebels came out hungry tonight, and got to eat some bobcat stew for there efforts, winning 27-19. The Rebels played a terrific game. Defensively, they were keyed by FOUR Interceptions, one of which was taken all the way back to the house by FS Issac Stacy, and a fumble recovery by DE James Johnson (he also had a key sack). Offensively, the O-line and Tight Ends blocked their butts off and the backfield, led by Shane Justice and Nathan Justus made great run after great run. After Hurley's last score, LT/DE Kelly Sykes even kicked a successful PAT (would have been a good FG from 25 yards out).

Overall, Hurley still hasn't put the pieces together for 4 straight quarters, but could be dangerous if, and when, they do. However, all the things that hurt them at Big Creek appeared to be corrected this week as this was a different looking team out there tonight.

Hurley has one more non-district game (Tug Valley, next week @ home) before they travel to Haysi and host Honaker and Twin Valley, all of which will determine the BDD Champion this year. Hurley will have to play 4 quarters of near flawless football to have even a remote shot at beating either set of Tigers, but let me tell you, Hurley will not lay down and let either Haysi or Honaker trample them. Win or lose, the Rebels are going to fight all the way to the end.

Congratulations to all the boys, you played great tonight, and to the coaches, you guys did your homework, and to all the fans and parents who helped make Hurley's Homecoming a success.

Even though I'd like to see Hurley kick PATs after every TD and go for FGs on 4th downs within the 25 yard line (the kicker can make 30 to 35 yard FGs pretty consistently), its just something that doesn't get tried that often.

Congrats to you and your teammates on your win. Nice to see my alma mater beat Graham.
