Dogs' McDaniel rushes to 'Player of the Week' award

BLUEFIELD - The Tazewell Bulldogs under new head coach Bobby Wyatt are the talk of the Southwest District. The Dogs (5-3) are still alive for a Region IV playoff spot and this past Friday night defeated Marion 28-7.

 

Leading the charge for Tazewell was running back J.R. Wilson who carried the ball for 118 yards and two touchdowns and had a key interception in the game.

 

For his accomplishments Wilson is the latest Bluefield Daily Tele-graph/Pocahon-tas Coal Association "Player of the Week."

 

This week's honor roll includes:

 

 

 

€ Rusty Coeburn (Bluefield) completed 9-of-15 passes for 176 yards and three scores in the No. 1 Beavers' win over Herbert Hoover.

 

€ The Bluefield Beaver defense allowed 62 total yards to Herbert Hoover, 7 on the ground and 55 in the air.

 

€ Robert Henry (Graham) rushed for 99 yards and two touchdowns in the G-Men's win at Princeton.

 

€ Brandon Croy (Princeton) ran for 87 yards in the Tigers' loss to Graham.

 

€ Thad Wells (Richlands) completed 9-of-15 passes for 172 yards and three touchdowns in the Tornado's win at Virginia High.

 

€ Jon Butler (Narrows) carried the ball 19 times for 120 yards and a score, caught a 45-yard pass for a touchdown and returned an interception 35 yards for paydirt in the Green Wave's win at Bland County.

 

€ Adam Havens (Montcalm) completed 13-of-21 passes for 276 yards and three scores and rushed for 52 yards in the Generals' loss at Twin Valley.

 

€ Tony Poff (Montcalm) caught seven passes for 153 yards and 2 TDs at Twin Valley.

 

€ Garon Marcum and Aaron Looney (Grundy) each rushed for more than 100 yards apiece and scored a touchdown each in the Wave's win over Abingdon .
