Bluefield_Rules 46 Report Share Posted December 16, 2004 The Beavers fell to the defending AA champions and preseason #1 Winfield in Charleston last night, 65-51. Winfield is the class of AA this year and are the standard. While the final margin of victory was 14 points, from reading the article on the game it was much closer than that; Winfield only led by one point going to the 4th quarter. Good luck to Winfield the rest of the season and maybe we'll meet again in Charleston come March. I honestly didn't expect the game to be as close as it was for most of the game. I mean this is a Bluefield team that, while talented, has had three practices together as a complete team; at least six players just joined the team. They lost their entire starting five from last year, have at least three players playing for the first time since middle school, and have two players playing key roles that are in their first year at Bluefield. Bluefield had some bright spots with Dexter Moore hitting seven three-pointers and scoring 25 points. Johnathan Repass was his solid usual all-around self with 15 points, 5 boards, and 5 assist. However, Treymane Matthews much be a force inside for Bluefield if they wish to beat the best teams in the class and advance deep come March. Graham @ Bluefield, Friday night @ BSC.
