Beavers clip Cardinals' wings

LOGAN - The Bluefield Beavers bounced back from their second loss of the season to down Sheldon Clark, Ky., 61-41 Wednesday night at the Logan Bank One Classic.

 

After a close first quarter, the Beavers (2-2) began to break away, outscoring the Cardinals by eight points to lead 33-23 at halftime.

 

Dexter Moore scored 13 of his game-high 15 points in the second period to help the Beavers' cause.

 

Bluefield really broke the game open after intermission, scoring 13 while holding the Cardinals to just two points in the third quarter.

 

Bluefield claimed third place in the Classic, and fourth-place Sheldon Clark dropped to 1-4.

 

Brandon May led the Cardinals with 11 points.

 

The Beavers, who led by as many as 24 points in the second half, got 15 from Moore, as well as 7 points apiece from Brandon Cosby and Jordan Manns.

 

Bluefield returns to action on the hardwood Tuesday and Wednesday as part of the First Community Bank Tournament at Princeton Senior High School.
