Graham got beat by a good rebounding team, but the officiating was awful! Where do they get these guys from?

BLUEFIELD - For the third consecutive night, the contest at the Bluefield Kiwanis Classic came down to the final minute of play before a winner was decided.

Thursday night at the Ned Shott Gymnasium, the Mount View Golden Knights came from behind and then held off the Graham G-Men for a 67-63 victory.

Mount View drew first blood with a Shannon Thomas tip-in only to see Graham score seven unanswered to take a 7-2 lead. The Knights fought back and Adam McMillion's putback at the 3:19 mark tied the game at eight.

A flurry of treys brought the opening quarter to an end. Jake Remines' second shot from behind the arc brought the G-Men into a tie at 13 and T.J. Carper's 3 gave Graham a 16-13 lead.

Mount View's James Edwards' long shot drew the Golden Knights even at the end of the quarter.

The G-Men built a five-point lead midway through the second on 3-point buckets. Remines hit his third and Eric Hoosier dropped two bombs as Graham forged ahead, 27-22.

The lead grew to 10 on Remines' fourth trey of the half, and Matt Yost's shot from just across midcourt at the buzzer gave the G-Men a 39-28 halftime lead.

Graham pushed out to a 13-point lead midway through the third stanza as Remines continued to provide offensive fireworks for Graham. The Knights climbed back into the game with a 7-0 run, with Thomas being a force in the paint.

Graham took a 50-45 lead into the final eight minutes.

The G-Men again ran out to a 10-point lead early in the fourth, but again Mount View answered.

Thomas' putback with 4:15 to go in the game tied the score at 55 and Eric Smith's layup and free throw put Mount View ahead for the first time since the first quarter.

Remines' basket at the 2:14 mark ended Mount View's 13-0 run and a 4 1/2-minute scoring drought for the G-Men.

It would, however, be the final field goal of the game as the Knights held off a late Graham charge to take the 67-63 win.

Thomas led Mount View and all scorers with 25 points, while Smith tallied 13 and Edwards 11.

Remines paced Graham with 20. Hoosier fired in 11 and Kevin Matthews added 10 for the G-Men.

Graham seems that they are putting up enough points to win games and are doing very good for themselves. So are they like 3-3 now? Well good luck on the rest of their season and Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!
