Boys score closer than I would have thought without Slagle. Sounds like defense may be an issue for GC?

GC needs players that look for the ball and want to score.   Everyone is doubling Zac and Brad and everyone else is wide open but when they do finally get the ball they are scared to death and looking to give the ball back.  Also running an offensive set instead of letting Zac or Brad dribble around looking for a deep shot would help alot.  Theres no offense and no flow.  Getting Compton back will help alot....him being out hurts quite a bit.  But I refrain from saying too much about that when playing Union and Slagle is over there sitting on the bench with another ACL tear.

But Union deserves a ton of credit in this one.  No....GC didnt play good defense at all.  However, Union made every dang shot they put up from deep.  They played extremely well and gave GC their best shot. I dont know the percentages but I'd wager that Union shot over 60% from 3 and probably made close to 10 or more.  I'm interested in seeing the stats on the game.

Going to drop some more knowledge for you...

Graham will go 16-6 (pending all games being played), undefeated in the SWD and will get blown out by the first team they play from the M7D...finish the season at 16-7...

All I can speak for is GC.....GC would NOT blow Graham out.  I can all but guarantee you that.  The Devils are looking pretty putrid these days. All ya gotta do is double and triple team Zac and Bradley. No one else on the team looks to score.  You can guard the other 3 GC players with 1 defender.  It's pretty sad really.

I think expectations are set a little too high after the teams GC and Graham had last year.  Those type of teams dont come around often.

  3. GC 12-10 with 1:45 left in the 1st.

    GC 16-10 end of 1st

GC goes cold.  Double and triple teaming Zac and Brad.  Jacob Hicks for GC is playing better than anyone else.  Other players passing up uncontested shots and when they do take wide open layups they cant make them.

DB leads at the half.  32-23

  4. Someone from Radford will have to help me with which player it was that transferred....i dont remember his name.   And I honestly dont remember where he went to either.

Edit:  Kamryn Edwards was the transfer.  He went to Liberty Heights and reclassified to the class of 2020. I'm not sure how much he contributed last year but from what I heard he had a promising future.  He had 3 pts against GC last year.

  5. GC had their chance but pissed that one away. Had a 12 pt lead and completely slowed the game down.  That bit them in the rear. Allowed Wenonah to gather themselves and make stops and create turnovers when they were clearly on the ropes.  Also surprised Coach didnt call a TO to get the defense setup after Bradley scored the go ahead layup with 9 secs left.  Nevertheless, good experience for GC.  Learn from it and move on to Greeneville.

That Wenonah team was pretty good but didnt utilize their 6'9 post player at all.  Even if they do use him I dont think they will hold a candle to the likes of Bearden or Carmel if they make it far enough to play one of those teams. I would have to say those 2 teams pass the eye test as the favorites in my opinion.

    No.

If they can't beat Princeton who has a soccer coach coaching the basketball team, they are the best anything...

Im gonna assume you meant "arent the best".

I suppose I spoke too soon.  The last thing I expected was for Gmen to drop a game to Princeton. GC has looked terrible for parts of several different games....cant seem to put one whole game together.  I expect Graham and GC will continue to get alot better and will still meet each other when it's all said and done.  And it will be a barn burner as usual.

The loser however will get the boobie prize.  Its early yet but beginning to think Radford wont meet much resistance fom Region D this year.

    Question though....what's Princetons record?

If GC can play like they did in the first half the rest of the year, we would be just fine. Then things like what happened in the 3rd come along and leaves me wondering. We quit pushing the ball, let SH control us with their press even though we blew by it every time in the 1st half. We should have won by 25. We might at home, but overall GC had the lead the entire game. Plenty to work on, but we keep winning. We’ll take it!

I agree completely.   A 15 pt win is nothing to sneeze at but this game along with the Boone game should have been 30+ pt wins for GC.   But it leaves plenty for them to work on.  If Zac can get rolling early with the deep ball and get his rhythm......good luck to whoever were playing.

Was good seeing Vermillion taking some shots tonight.  If he can make 2-3 of those per game and Compton keeps playing good D and making some steals and converting them into Layups like he did tonight and against Boone....I like GCs chances against just about anyone.

GC better hold on to their jock strap though.  I have a feeling Wenonah is gonna take us out to the woodshed and give us a good thrashing in a few days at the Arby's Classic.   Hope I'm wrong!  Good luck GC.

  8. GC played well for the first half of the game.  The 3rd was abysmal.....went 4 mins without scoring a point and let SH back in the game after leading by 20 pts.  But the stretched the lead back out nearly 20 pts again. This was the type performance I felt GC should have had against Boone as well.  Should not have been as close as it was at any point.

Good win boys.  Still lots of room for improvement too.

  9. GC "should" win this one handily.  But they should have laid a monumental whipping on Boone and didnt.  However,  Zac had a bad game against Boone and shot 9 for 27 or 28 I think, was 2 of 13 from behind the arc, and missed 4 or 5 of his FTs.  If he has his normal performance and Brad can get going early I think GC wins by 15+.

If they play like the did against Boone they will come away with an L against Science Hill.

  10. I feel like Graham may have the best squad in Region D this year.   We will find out soon enough....dont see anyone else beating them or GC until they face one another.   GC will need to find another consistent scorer (or two) if they want to have much post season success.  A team with the talent of Graham or Radford would have buried us alive had we been playing them last night.  Kinda wish Graham and GC played during the regular season....I love the matchup.

  11. Terrible news! I really hate it for the kid. Hes one heck of a basketball player.  I felt for sure if he could stay healthy that he would get some scholarship offers.... if he hasnt already? I havent really heard.   Maybe its time to hang it up and focus on getting the best education possible .....Or maybe hes determined to play and rehabs and gets right back after it.   Best wishes to him and his future endeavors and hopefully he has yet another speedy recovery.
