  1. Well ill say this......even last week when we hadn't had rain in a few days the field was still a bit damp and smushy right in the middle for about a 30 yd stretch and also right near the sidelines. But with the rain were getting this morning I'd say it's gonna be a mudfest. It's only supposed to get colder and snow......so unless it just gets so frigid cold that the field is frozen Saturday we will be seeing a mud scrum at the line of scrimmage every time the ball is snapped. 2 or 3 yards and a sloppy clod of Legion!
  2. So just like people are saying for Richlands. ....if Gc wins they will travel no matter what as well. Because I'm almost 100% sure that Glenvar isn't going to beat Giles. Looks like a long trip next weekend for either of us. I'm hoping all of Northeast TN and SW Virginia shows up at Legion Saturday for this game and makes for an atmosphere like we always used to have. I miss the days when it was packed and no seats were available within an hour and a half of kickoff....6 or 7 deep on the fences
  3. I thought if the two teams left in the west were highest seeds and the number 1 and 2 seeds in the east had lost then it allowed both teams in the west to host. I guess I had it backwards. Kinda sucks because GC and Richlands both could possibly be higher than the east seeds depending on who wins.
  4. If GC wins and Wilson Memorial wins since they are both #2 seeds what happens then? Do they go by the higher state rank or do they go by who has the most power points to decide who gets to host the semifinal game? I felt like it was by point system but wasn't exactly sure
  5. Well its all just an assumption.....similar to the way that the Wake Forrest players assumed that it has to feel really good to win a football game....but then they got to play the Hokies. Welp....guess I'm the only one assuming and dreaming these days. But I digress......The point of my post was I'd rather see the game played on a dry field with not a shred of doubt left as to who the best team is. Not that any of us from either historical team would ever find ways to make an excuse. ;)
  6. I think it would hurt GC as bad or worse if the field ends up being sloppy! Doesn't really play to the advantage of either team. So in that case.....i dont care if it snows a foot and we play in a slushy mudbowl or if it's sunny and the field is dry as a camels fart. (preferred) I'm just ready to see some helmet paint traded
  7. I think we all sometimes are guilty of wanting to compare teams based off who they have played and how bad one team has beat another as to how the upcoming teams are going to match up. But that never works. GC steamrolled Wise Central......yet Glenvar struggled to even score on Wise and was a pretty evenly matched game. So one would want to say that Glenvar and Wise Central are almost equal teams. And with that said Giles rolled Glenvar in the same fashion that GC beat Wise Central....so one might want to think that GC and Giles are equal due to all that comparison BS i just drummed up. For the most part.....as we all know......THIS NEVER WORKS!! All I have to base my opinion on in this game is I've seen how physical Lee can be and has the potential to be. I could be bad wrong and won't be suprised if I am.....but I think Lee either wins with the upset or loses a very close ball game!
  8. I think Lee has a great chance at winning this one if they play like they did today! After Glenvar struggled to put away wise central. ...that Giles win over Glenvar no longer looks quite as impressive as i once thought it did. Still from what I've seen and heard Giles is a great team. But.....I'm gonna go for the upset pick: Lee - 27 Giles - 21
  9. Just a coat!?! Lol You'll see me over near the cowbells wearing a parka and probably sitting on a blanket and wrapped in one too. But I'll be there nonetheless! It wouldn't be so bad if the wind wasn't blowing.....but at work right now it's howling and it's miserably cold with wind chill.
  10. Gonna be nice and warm tomorrow night fellas! Shorts and tank top weather. ...perfect night for football at Legion Field! If your team ain't playing then come on out and pack the stands at GC. Whether or not it ends up being a good or a bad game.....I'm pumped to see these two teams play again. Good luck to both these teams and hope it's injury free!
  11. Well the punt returner that's so hard to defend is also our RB.....so running FB Dive all the time would take him out of the question for our offense....so that can't happen to be successful in the playoffs. We have 3 good backs in the backfield and have 2 or 3 solid receivers....we just don't utilize them enough. If Graham has a passing game at all they can have success against GC at times. GC has always been notorious for never looking back for the ball on defense. Our secondary is okay with defending it. ....but they are very undersized which creates alot of bad mismatches. I'm suprised we did as well as we did against Union and their tall wide receivers.
  12. Welp.....i guess GMan pretty much just took all the fun out of it for me haha I'm still pumped to see the two play again. ...no matter how good or bad each team may be. This isn't quite the same GC team of old either. I really just wanna see the Devils come out and be sharp....good ball control for once in 5 games.
  13. I looked at some of the film of Broadway given the link that was posted on here yesterday.... sloppy play from them. However, they seem to be pretty physical! Guess it all depends on how the AHS defense plays and which Broadway team shows up as well.
  14. Scratch that.... i forgot they are playing on friday. I can't miss the Devils playing Graham to watch the Falcons....I'll root em on though Lol
  15. Haha The only support I'll be a part of is hoping my treestand supports my arse and doesn't fail me as I'm 30 ft up a tree Saturday morning. 2 weekends ago in wise central in a rain, snow, and wind storm at 25-35 degrees was plenty and that was for my own team. I'll support the Falcons by keeping myself updated on my phone up in the tree and wishing them a win and safe trip.
  16. Well whether they bring the fans or not....we will be happy to welcome our old rivals back to Legion Field. It's a shame they don't have the fan base anymore. ...those young players would thrive off of the support from them. It will be loud at GC....so they won't know the difference in who is hollaring for who. .....except for the bells. They haven't got to be a part of the bells that are mainly fabricated down in Duffield VA...those have came about after the last match in 2000
  17. I just watched that game on YouTube yesterday actually. Not sure about now....but they sure had a fan base in 97'. I'd attend this game if it was in Abingdon on Saturday.
  18. Is Graham that down this year? Or did yall play them early on this year and they just managed to get better as the year went on and put together a small win streak? I can't rremember at what point Richlands played them
  19. I sure hope yall are right. ..but GC hasn't quite played the same since the Abingdon and Union games. Im hoping the coaches get in the play book past the introductory section this week....but only If they need to. If something isn't working.....I'd like to see them try another play aside from the 4 they run. I'd like to see a big win.....but I want our guys to stay humble as well and keep their head on their shoulders....so a hard fought closer game that's injury free would be alot better for us IMO.
  20. I saw the stats on that game....definitely controlled the ball! I actually was one of the few GC fans that thought Richlands could beat them. They are a good team....but GC made them look way better than they were with the play calling....not to mention Herron was out. Same goes for the game against Sullivan South.....it's hard to beat a team running FB Dive 31 times unless that play is working every time.....and and it wasnt! Out star players rode the bench or was at wideout position while we ran FB Dive over and over. Anyhow, off my soap box! I think with Lee's physicality they have a chance to give anyone in the state a run for their money in 2A. When those hogs lay on you for 4 qtrs....sucks the will right out of ya!
  21. Well the one game i missed this year due to work schedule was the AHS and GC game. So when I saw the Falcons play last week I was shocked that they didn't score at some point against GC. Sturgill looked good out of shotgun and made alot of good reads and he throws the ball exceptionally well which usually doesn't bode too good for GC. So i have no doubts myself that the game would be closer if they played again. I also too will say that GCs play got worse toward the end of the season....just didn't take care of the ball at all and was lucky to win at Lee and played really sloppy against Battle. Nothing argumentative about what you said at all though BigO...seems to just be the truth.
  22. The same Abingdon team that Gate city shut out early in the season... Marion struggled with last week. With that being said Marion is still a great team and would concern me if GC has to play them. It's all about matchups and certain styles that teams play. I think that's alot of what happens in these s**t storms that were seeing of teams losing to one's we felt for sure should be wins
  23. I just hope GC doesn't play like they did their last 4 games. (minus the game at a weak Wise Central which they dominated) Graham might jump up and bite them on the arse if they come out flat as a pancake and aren't fired up. But I too am pumped to renew the rivalry. Will never forget the games against them with Housey in the backfield.....Some of the best games I've seen. Those guys used to be beastly!
  24. I understood what you meant and i worded my post wrong. I was meaning having a backup QB "plus" nine turnovers is never a good recipe.
  25. Backup QB plus 9 turnovers. ...that could lose a ballgame for ya for sure. But I still would think their defense should be good enough to stop TWs offense once they committed those tturnovers. I wouldn't mind to see the upset....i hope they put together a good game against the Wave. But Clintwood is a tough place to play......and its about 20 degrees colder in that hole in the hill. One of the best football atmospheres in SW VA.
