3 teams .....graham , grayson and Virginia high.....

It wasn't meaningful for Richlands at all, nothing changes for them. Great move to throw that game. now they can focus their attention where it needs to be, on Union. While Union is out their whacking around with Gate City, Richlands will be sharp practicing in the gym where Tuesday nights game will be played beating Union by 23. Their first region win. The SEC tournament means everything to 3 teams trying to earn a 2nd place region spot, but for Richlands it meant nothing (MEANINGLESS) , they did the right thing tonight. The dumbest tournament ever put together. Graham and Richlands didn't need to play again.

The first hard foul on Martin that happened in the first game at Richlands right after the halftime talk, was committed by one of the adult men players from Richlands . The Radio announcer described it as , "Martin was clobbered, and went hard to the ground." Very suspicious behavior for Martin to be taking these hard fouls when he scored 32 at Richlands and 34 last Friday. The final score between the entire Richlands team and Martin the last game was Richlands 39 - Martin 34. When Carlock took Martin out of the game it was Richlands 34 - Martin 34.

Ryan4VT all I know is what you tell me, and you told me over in the SEC thread that you didn't see it, that you was tweeting on twitter when it happened and all you saw was the reactions of everyone and that you got off your tweeter and ask your brother what happened and your brother told you it was a flagrant foul and that you took your brothers word for it. Now which is it? Who is trolling who here?

The conversation I heard was about if an assault could be filed in the courts if it was an intentional flagrant by one of the adults who play for Richlands.

5 Grown men playing 9th, 10th and eleventh graders, even? Shouldn't be evenly matched but I guess your right. I've talk to a parent and several basketball heads from Graham and you better bet an eagle eye is going to be on the flagrant fouls on Martin, if Richlands makes it to the championship game.

I think at this point in the season refs need to pay special and close attention to flagrant fouls. This is the time of year when special players become targets of hard fouls in an attempt to cool them off.

If I was Richlands I would throw the first conference game and not play for the meaningless conference trophy and concentrate on Union. What do they have to lose but the 3 dollar trophy and injuries?. I am not convinced they didn't throw Fridays regular season game with Graham. They didn't even attempt many 3 pointers, went strictly to an inside game and was missing layups and that;s just not typical Richlands basketball. I am so glad these stupid conferences will be gone next year and only the districts will exist.

Dick I understand that but you won't bet that Union and Graham won't earn those spots. After their regular season play I believe both have earned a spot. And nothing present, but a "dream" to use your word that Union and Graham won't earn the spots during the tournament.

Ryan4VT what did you think about the hard foul on Graham kid last night? Was it flagrant?

Dick to me the tournaments don't matter and are meaningless because the risk of having them far out weigh the slim glimmer of hope that a team that had a rough season may somehow get hot and earn a spot in the region. Example: I think Graham should have something to gain from the conference 39 tournament besides a trophy. Same with Union in 40 they can earn nothing but a trophy but be knocked out. The tournaments are not fair. You get fans that don't understand, risks of injuries teams seeing each other for the third time , fights. Case in point, the kid from Graham who has been on fire in both games against Richlands has taken three hard fouls and one last night that everyone agrees should have been flagrant. Now if this kid takes another hard foul I don't call it a mistake. The tournaments should be equal to all teams involved but they are not. Therefore they are meaningless.

Dick your the one saying it does , "liberal" is not a word that pertains solely to politics, you are the one making hat assumption. liberal can mean simply being open to new opinions and disregarding tradition and moral values. liberal may mean only politics to you but trust me it can be used various subjects including basketball. In my opinion the conference tournaments at this point has nothing to offer the kids , the coaches or the players but false hope. If that puts me on a high horse so be it.

I am talking about liberal ideas in basketball and wasting time and money on tournaments, risking injuries to basketball players playing meaningless games. I am not calling everyone a liberal, I just think it is a liberal idea to think everyone deserves a trophy.

What Carlock fails to mention is the trophy Richlands got for beating them in Richlands was home court advantage for the first region game and he gets to travel to gate City.

EH31 what gives you the idea I am a richlands fan? It was meaningless last year and it's meaningless now. It does give those liberals who want to give everyone atrophy something to hope for though.
