  1. Is the Lee High School Board consideing a coaching change?  The information I have looked at indicates by the third year you have a good idea what direction the program is heading.  This season Lee is 2-6 and the home side seats look pretty empty.  Looking at the wins and losses, the head coach's record to date beginning in 2016 is 13 wins - 16 losses.  His record against 2A teams is 7-15.  Six of the 2A wins have come against Lebanon, Central, and Gate City all of which seem to be really struggling themselves the last several years.  Central and Gate City both beat Lee this year on Lee's field.  The coaching staff seems to be real confused as to whether they want to run a spread offense or wishbone.  I never have determined what kind of defense Lee runs.  Most of the current coordinators have been around Lee High since Coach Martin was the head coach.  I think the head coach was the offensive coordinator back in 2009 when Coomer was the head coach at Lee.  Looks like the kids are trying really hard on the field.

Done and I'll leave that to the coaching staff. Don't really know why that is relevant though.

It's not relevant, just tired of being quoted on this irrelevant topic.  LOL.

So you are letting an extreme circumstance control the majority, Soon you'll be calling for socialism.

    I don't agree with a 0-10 making the playoff, but I don't agree with leaving a good 8-2 7-3 6-4 5-5 team home.

Make a rule you have to 3 win or more, 5 wins or more, etc to make the playoffs

Socialism, my view is just the opposite of socialism.  I say leave their azz at home.  Socialism would say put them all in the playoffs cause my little Johnny deserves to play.  Either way I really don't care because in the end they get their azz kicked anyway.  Don't you have a school facelift referendum to go vote for or a playoff game to prepare for?

  4. Since you put it that way, I'll tell you wtf it matters.  If a team is playing schools the same size and they and their coaches suck so bad they can't win a game then they shouldn't be rewarded with a playoff game.  My opinion...

So what's the solution? Put just 4 in each region and 8 win teams don't make it in?

4-6 is one thing but 0-10.  C'mon man.  Richlands got in at 4-6 over 5-5 team right?  The reason they did is their schedule was tougher,  they deserved it.  I'm guessing here but wouldn't almost every team have qualified from down here if they played in that region if two 0-10 teams made it in.   I agree with the other post that the regional boundaries need to be tweaked, as to not have only 6 teams in the region.

  6. I agree with all the previous post about Lee High School.  One obvious problem is the people who make the Lee coaching decisions are arm chair QBs, who seem to be making political/personal decisions.  It is a sad situation for the players, they're really the one's who suffer.  The two main Lee coaches have been coaching for several years and I'm sure are trying their best; unfortunately records don't lie, it is obvious they have reached their ceiling.  The SB is directly responsible for the mediocrity.  I hope the residents of Lee County send them a message tuesday.

One can only wonder, but it would have to be better than Gate City's!

If beating a 1-9 team is the new Lee standard, then you got me on that one.  I am glad they finally took TW off the schedule, of course I think TW has improved this year.  Hats off to the TW folks.

Lee has the talent to beat Abingdon,  but we'll get out coached again.

This year like last year wheels fall off in the last two weeks of season.

We'll get a first round exit in the playoffs.  Maybe at Bullitt Park.

I totally agree. I think first round losses in playoffs goes back a little farther than a year, lol, of course with the exception of the Appomattox miracle.  This playoff system is great, you can beat three very bad 2A teams (no disrespect intended) and a couple respectable 1A teams and your talking playoffs. Playoffs!  You said Playoffs.  For the most part seems like Gate City folks are ready to run Mr. Akers out of town but I can't help but to wonder what Lee's record would be if they played the same schedule as Gate City.

  9. Of course, Coach Akers needs more time.  The Gate City program is about to turn the corner.  They are currently on a winning streak.  I mean he was hired as a teacher first and football coach second right?  Everybody makes it sound like he was hired just to be a football coach.  Doesn't Scott County have a policy you have to be employed as a teacher to coach?

Let's all be realistic here, Lee's Defense didn't show up because battle took the playmakers out of the equation for the most part. Lee stayed in a defensive formation that allowed battles offensive line to get into position to get in the way of their playmakers. As a defensive minded person you have to free your playmakers up so they can get to the ball. If you have playmakers at the linebacker position you use your linemen to occupy the offensive line so your linebackers can make plays. Adjustments go a long ways in this game.

I thought Lee's defensive playmakers were their defensive tackles.  Let's be real here, you don't need LBs if the tailback is on his back 3 yds in the backfield.

All of them have. Lee is the only one that legitimately stopped the run. And by stopped, I mean "limited" to 200 yards.

Pass attempts per game after Richlands...

    Letcher - 7
    Ridgeview - 7
    GC - 11(primarily JV passing)
    Mo West - 4
    Lee - 8
Central - 13 (primarily JV passing)
    Abingdon - 5

Interesting information, in today's spread offenses doesn't seem like very many pass attempts.  Sounds like no one has absolutely shut the run down.  A true testament of Unions running attack.  Be interesting to see what happens in the playoffs.

6-5 is the best record a 2A team that Lee has beaten has had since '99 (Ridgeview '15; Appomattox '14; John Battle '13;  John Battle '11; Powell Valley and J.J. Kelly in '02).  You have to back to at least '98 to find a  2A team with more than a little better than .500 % that Lee has defeated.

Thank you for the info.  I didn't have time to do the research but you made the point.  Lee may have a decent record but who are they beating.  No offense to the 1A schools in the Cumberland District or the dismal Gate City and Central teams this year but I would not take a lot of pride in beating up on those teams.

  13. Lee has lost to good Union and Ridgeview teams.  They have beaten Gate City and Central, two teams that are obviously going through some really tough times.  Lee has the talent, remember the skill positions are a track team according to Coach Pendergraff, to win this game.  It's at Ben Hur.  No more excuses.

    Beat Ridgeview in 2015.

You got me on that one, Ridgeview finished 6-5 in 2015.  I stand corrected, Lee hasn't beaten a 2A school with a winning record since 2015.  Some might argue that Lee didn't make a goal line stand, just like Union didn't make "the catch" but water under the bridge, it's in the record books.
