Union would be my guess. No need to run all the way to Tennessee when Union obviously provides enough exposure to get a kid to a big time program and beyond.

I believe his family lives in Duffield so its a easy change

I fail to see how Union can provide any more exposure than any other school in our area.

Based on what I have heard recently, I feel confident that GW and Grayson will both appeal to play down in 1.  I believe Riverheads will do the same.

I also hear James River wants to come down to 1, but not too sure on the accuracy for this one.

As I said above, I think LCA wants to stay in class 3.  I say this only because I believe they are comfortable with the level of competition and the travel.

Have any appeals to play down ever been granted?

You’d have to be a fool to play at Wise if Union is an option. I thought Goforth and the Wise ties were no longer with the school? Us giving up home games to play GC at Wise was bad enough.

One thing to consider is that the VHSL says tickets sales are online only, and the visiting team is allowed to purchase 50% of the available seats up through a certain date, then the rest of their unsold allotment becomes available to anyone.  So basically the visiting team could match the home crowd in size if they buy their 50%.

Hell I’m all for swva teams doing well after region if it’s not my team it might as well be someone close. I have been and always will defend the Marion kids on this board god knows no one else will especially if they have a Marion icon. These boys and girls bust their ass and deserve what little praise they did especially with the cards stacked against them to succeed at Marion and I have seen it first hand. I go no personal issue with any team in the region, but I will go to bat for these kids behind this keyboard by god!

Yeah, all kids that are out there competing deserve respect.   What do you mean though about the cards being stacked against them?

  5. Let's put this rumor to rest, Central is not a hard place to coach.  Owens was able to establish a good culture, had great community support, and was able to combine the Pound and Wise youth programs, which was much needed.  This will be a good coaching job for someone. The Warriors do a graduate a lot this year, but the cupboard is far from bare.

Nope that was Jeff Adkins, Martinsville coach. Martinsville grad and played at the University of Maryland back in the early to mid 80's. Very high strung from an early age till now. Learned his theatrics from Martinsville legendary coach Robert "Husky" Hall and Lefty Driesell.

From the way he was acting, he's very lucky someone didn't clean his clock.
