  1. I don't think that would happen anytime soon. If there is any consolidation, it mayl be with the elementary and primary schools. I had heard at one point that there could possibly be 1 elementary school (k-7) in Bluefield, 1 in Tazewell and 1 in Richlands housed in the current High Schools. 1 High School in each town (8-12) housed in each current middle school. Personally, I think that would be more likely then going to 2 High Schools. Bus routes wouldn't be too bad for most kids.
  2. Graham brings too many people to that one game. Split the gate or play at the new stadium every other year. Bring your folding chairs, can't pass up that kind of revenue.
  3. There is no stadium currently at Graham High School, just a practice field. They would have to build a new stadium. In the past, there was a plan to build a new stadium behind Graham Middle School, with some sort of an agreement to finance it through the town of Bluefield. VA. Maybe they have a similar plan at GHS to get a stadium built.
  4. I agree with this. Play the Bluefield game at Mitchell each year and the rest at Grahams new stadium ( if that is ever built). Work out some sort of deal with Bluefield High School regarding the gate each year. Graham could sit on the visitors side for that game, like they used to do for so many years.
  5. Turf fields were approved at the school board meeting last night. Turf at RHS will be replaced. Turf and a regulation track for THS and a Turf field for GHS beside the High School.
  6. Apparently, geeze. Some have reported hearing fans howling off in the distance. Others have claimed to have blurry photos of the scrimmage
  7. Anybody heard anything at all about the Bluefield scrimmage? Did they even have a scrimmage?
  8. Yeah, Real Estate in this area is selling like hot cakes.
  9. Austin Coe - an Air Force Recruit. https://www.hudl.com/profile/14056417/Austin-Coe
  10. For Tazewell, I wouldnt expect them to show too much. They will probably work on the run game and blocking. Hopefully they will run the up tempo stuff some. I think the passing game for the Dogs will be pretty potent this year. I think the run game will be better then last year. Defensively, hope to see good tackling and containing the edge.
  11. Very possible for them to finish anywhere from 3rd to 6th in the SWD.
  12. I think this year's Graham team will be able to run the ball very successfully. Early on, I think they should rely on it heavily. They have several receiving threats, but the big question for Graham will be at Quarterback. I think how well the qb develops (or 2 or 3 qbs, if they run a multiple system) will determine how far they go this year. All of the other pieces are there. Size, depth, speed and physicality. I would love to see Clements in the Wildcat some more and wouldn't it be great to run him in the Wildcat and have him pull up and throw the ball, I would love to see that once or twice.
  13. 2nd in the SWD isn't being "so high on Tazewell". The SWD will be down other then Graham. Tazewell has some good athletes and a decent line. I see them going 7-3 and winning a playoff game for the first time in a while. That is by no means a high expectation, but what I feel should be a reasonable outcome for them.
  14. I think that defensively, they will do fine against teams that don't have a ton of speed. Offensively, they need to work on protecting the QB when he drops back to pass after taking the snap from center. He has the ability to tuck it and run, but I wouldn't want him in that type of situation very much, he has been nursing an injured shoulder and he is too valuable to the team. They did fine, lining up under center and running the ball, it was the passing that didn't go well from that position. They looked very good passing the ball out of the shot-gun, got some big targets to throw to. I think about 5 or 6 different receivers caught the ball in the scrimmage and there were some running wide open when they picked up the tempo. Interested to see how they progress.
  15. Can't wait to watch him play. Been watching him play different sports since he was knee high to a grass hopper.
  16. I don't doubt that at all. I was hoping that Blake would come back out for football this season.
  17. I think that has happened twice 1995 and 2018.
  18. Final tally. Dogs 2-1 in varsity CC 2-0 in jv.
  19. Dogs force 3 and out on next possession. Dogs go hurry up again, Creasy completing nice passes and flags seem to be flying every time the dogs make a first down. Gotta fix that. As I type Kaizon Taylor does his best Marshawn Lynch impersonation, rumbling for about 20 yards, followed by a 30 yd td toss from Creasy to Mullins. Dogs up 2 tds to 1.
  20. Varsity back in playing distance and down now. CC scores on their first possession aided by a long acrobatic catch during the series. Bulldogs go hurry up on the next possession. Nice runs by Zeigler, Alley and Taylor. Creasy with a nice scramble for good yardage. Quick pass to Mullins. Creasy to Taylor and the Bulldogs score to even things up. Dogs looked good with the quick tempo... CC 1 td Dogs 1 td
  21. After 2 - 10 play series for each teams varsity, no score for either team. Carroll managed about 30 total yards on each possession, Bulldogs managed about 40 on each possession. Impressed with Brock Alley and Reece Mullins at LB. Avery Zeigler made a couple of impressive runs on offense, one of about 15 yards and another of about 20, with a nice stiff arm. (very quick). Gabe Beavers and Jaime Rizzo look solid on both sides of the line. Creasy didn't have a lot of time for slow developing pass plays, but he tucked it and ran twice for nice yardage, came up favoring that shoulder on the last one(yikes). Receivers are tall and athletic, Patterson, Gillespie and McDonald, lot of potential for the Dogs. I'm sure both teams are working on fundamentals, but Bulldogs look a little quicker on the line then last season. Brock Alley looks good in short yard situations and Taylor only carried the ball once for a few yards. Bulldogs need to shore up their pass protection and protect Creasy and they should do well. J.V. is in for both teams and CC scored a long td run by a little fast dude...not concerned as much with jv, will post more if the varsity gets back in.
  22. I agree. I felt that Graham had the better team last year and controlled the game for the most part, but Bluefield made some improbable plays that kept them in it. Bluefield always seems to have a trick or 2 up their sleeve and you can never count them out. The years that Graham has won, they have had superior line-play and I think this year, Graham has superior line play and has some depth on the line. As far as athleticism, I believe the teams will match up with each other very well. Simon is not afraid to do some trick-er-ation and it seems more often then not, that Graham has been burned by it over the years. I do believe Palmer is 3-4 against Simon as a head coach (somebody correct me if I'm wrong) and this is his chance to even things out. Huge Question Mark for both teams will be the QB position. I think Graham's line is good enough and their run game will be good enough to not have to throw the ball much. Not sure if Bluefield will be able to run successfully on what looks to be a stellar D-Line and linebacking corp for Graham. If Bluefield can throw the ball, they may have some success (however, Graham does have Clements, Hass and Floyd lurking back there in the secondary). Gonna take a heck of a team to beat Graham out of the gate, usually the defense is a head of the offense early on and Graham has some studs returning on defense.
