  1. This Pioneer team is deeper than the 2019 version in my opinion, especially at pitcher. They as you've said will be just fine.
  2. Also teams have been unable to put many on base against them. Even when they've allowed hits. Regional will be tougher, but I really don't think they will be challenged in the region. I feel like every other team is playing for 2nd in district and regions. State playoffs may be different but again this is basically the same team who made it in 2019. They may be even deeper overall this go around. I saw a state wide ranking the other day that had Lebanon ranked 16 in the state. This top 25 ranking included all schools in the state regardless of size. The only other local team who was in the top 25 was Abingdon. The falcons are loaded as well and both teams are pretty even talent wise.
  3. They have 6 total. We've seen 4 really play. That's why their ace hasn't pitched a ton yet. Likely the 2 we've seen lately...a sophomore and freshman are 3 and 4 on the depth chart. The coaches at Lebanon are pretty good at no over working. I look for them to get by both teams tomorrow night pretty early. I think you will see a mix of pitchers in both games. Where the word load is equalized. I really don't think Tazewell will challenge them. Va High likely played their best game against Lebanon the 1st time. I think Lebanon will be ready for their slower pitching the next time and wear them out. I don't think VA High is as good as they usually are.
  4. Lebanon wins again..the younger Buchanan (sophomore) threw a no hitter...Pioneers win 11 to 0 over Marion. Pioneers have no outscored their opposition 63 to 2.
  5. All I know is that he is going be pretty good. The one to watch is the sophomore Buchanan, the young brother of the ace Buchanan. People are writing the Pioneers off next year as far as being contenders in single A, but from what I can see they are going to be loaded for a while. Their jv is undefeated as well. There is a lot of talent coming up.
  6. They didn't even pitch their ace against the bulldogs. They went with a sophomore and freshman who combined for 8 strikes and allowed maybe 3 hits. So far the Pioneers have outscored their opposition 42 to 2.
  7. Like I said I, I haven't seen their entire schedule yet, I've only heard parts of it.
  8. I haven't seen Lebanon's full schedule yet, but I've heard they are playing the usual Honaker and Castlewood games. They are also playing Eastside and Virginia High. The rest of the schedule should be hogo teams.
  9. That's funny coming from a possible honaker fan...we did beat you 14 to 2 and if we played you again it would be way worse. A win is a win. It's good for them to get challenged. Lebanon had only played against two awful teams in Castlewood and Honaker to start the season. Virginia High was basically their first real game. Virginia High is somewhat down this year, but they are still VA high making them always a tough out. That was most likely VA Highs best chance to beat the Pioneers this year. Lebanon like every other team is working off rust. They will only get better, especially in their hitting game. If thr Pioneers are still getting shut outs when they are rusty...its going to be hard to come close to them when they get to mid season /playoff form. Also the number 1 pitcher Buchanan is only throwing in the mid 80s and hasn't hit his full strength yet. His little brother will be a tough pitcher too.
  10. They are definitely extremely good. As far as being the best team in SWVA ever....im going to say no. JJ Kelly won 9 state titles. The Kelly team with Doug bates that won 3 in a row is probably the best team SWVA has ever seen. Lebanon needs to stay focused, kids today lose focus easily. They should be the best, but 1 bad game against a Central or a battle could end it for them in regionals if they aren't focused. Covid could also play a role. A state title won't just be handed to them. They are going to have to earn it. I really hope they do.
  11. Baseball team looks to be stronger than the softball team. The softball team will still be very strong if that tells you anything. Baseball blanked Castlewood like they should 14 to 0 in 5 innings. Softball won like 14 to 3 over Castlewood. Both games were yesterday. The baseball team will start getting more challenging games next week with Tazewell and VA High.
  12. They have quite a bit of talent coming up.
  13. I agree, could potentially win 2A state titles in baseball and softball this year. Possibly win baseball 1A title next year.
  14. The little scat back is Hertig's younger brother. He should grow some, his brother was small and quick at that age as well. He has the potential to be better than his older brother. He has been playing varsity since his freshman season. He is only a sophomore. His older brother hadn't played in a couple seasons. Lebanon has had talent and athletes roaming the halls and playing other sports, just not football. Having those guys made a big difference this year, and hopefully seeing varsity win some will get more of those guys to play.
  15. I agree, he is very impressive for an 8th grader. I've heard he is holding back this year. I can't wait until that group hits varsity. They will be fun to watch as they develop.
  16. I wasn't impressed with the calls, but a win is a win. You can't let off the gas. I think they were overconfident. They got up and then went through the motions. Some of the penalties were bad calls, especially on some of the tds. They lose some on the line, but I think they will be competitive in the hogo. The JV team is going to be really tough when they hit varsity. Lebanon has a good qb in Reece Coming up with recievers to go with him and the running back Dillion and Olsen are going to be tough, mixed in with the younger Hertig.
  17. Pioneers win 21 to 14 Lebanon could have won this by a lot more if they chose. The Pioneers jumped out to a 21 to 0 lead, then went through the motions. They also played a lot of young players who will play major roles next season. A win is a win. Pioneers finish 4-3, and have their 1st winning season since 2013. A major improvement from 1-9 in 2020. Congrats Pioneers! Go Red!!
  18. Lebanon has also been playing without Ward.
  19. Way too many penalties in the Lebanon game.
  20. Lebanon 21 Lee 14 Lebanon is going through the motions. They need to wake up. They haven't taken this game seriously. 3rd quarter
  21. Lebanon is playing a lot of young players and going through the motions, they need to be careful.
  22. Lebanon 21 Lee 7 2nd quarter
  23. Lebanon 21 Lee 0 2nd quarter
  24. Lebanon 14 LEE 0 1st quarter
