That JJ Kelly team went from 1-9 to 6-4, after a 1-3 start to the season. They lost to Pound, Coeburn, beat JI Burton, lost to Rye Cove, then went on a win streak that included beating Powell Valley, and only lost to Clintwood down the stretch.
Hmm I wonder if he can upset Union in year 1 the way he did a Powell Valley team in his 1st go around in year 1 at JJ Kelly. Ended the 34 game winning streak 19 to 14 in 99.
4 minutes ago Saunders announced he is the new Head Coach at central on X. That is wild after 20+ years after leaving JJ Kelly. Being a 2002 Kelly graduate I find it very intriguing. Considering Central is in similar shape JJ Kelly was when he started in 1999. Welcome back coach!
Its going to be a long year for the Bearcats. I expect them to improve as the season goes, but definitely going to be hard to get many wins. The future is bright though, they have good players coming up the next few years.
It looks like they will, VHS lost both Laws and Graham. Good effort for both teams. The Bearcats didn't handle adversity well on this one. They had a big td called back early and weren't the same after that play. Hats off to the Pioneers. I can accept when I got one wrong. I know a lot of people at LHS so I know they will enjoy this win. Congrats!!
Didn't help last year, Virginia High had 6+ sacks in the playoff game last year. One VHS player, Daggs had 6 of them himself. He was only a sophomore at the time, so he will be a factor.
In Bearcat territory 95% of the time and didnt score? Thats called bending and not breaking on Defense. Bottom line one team scored twice the other didn't. One team broke on Defense the other didn't. 14 to 0 at halftime says it all.
Im sorry but even a healthy Jessee isnt adding 5 more scores. They scored 1 time without him. Id give them maybe 2 extra scores possibly 3. If they had Baker I'd say it would be a toss up. With that many injuries Lebanon will have difficulty stopping the Bearcats due to the overall speed difference. We will see though.
I nailed this one too. Most of their offensive production returns next season, hopefully they can fill some spots on the o line and d line. If they do, should be another good season for the Bearcats.
