I go to every game and some on Saturday. So I look at the talent. Jones is being recruited as a D1 pitching prospect, which has more value than football at Tech. With respect, if my son through in the 90's , he would be playing baseball in college. Better longevity and health. There are a lot of schools out there recruiting on states, combines, etc instead of watching kids play. Websites and the press are promoting this agenda on stat padding coaches. If a Tech offer legitimizes talent, what does that mean based on what they are doing this year?

Let's see, Tazewell has scored 8 pts on Grahams D (one on the JV ) the past 2 years. Jones did pass for two on us this year, despite the LOS being dominated by the Gmen. I hope Tazewell wins Friday , the differnce in this game will be the line of scrimmage. Period!

What is correct? All the stat gatherers are doing it against everybody but Graham. Don't be confused, just because someone gets a D1 offer , doesn't make them dominate.

Yes, very impressive kid. Ran hard all night. I'm not a coach , but Galax zone blocking scheme is effective. The problem comes when the offensive isn't diversified enough to run wide or pass. They are who they are and they more importantly, they know who they are and very good at it. Graham has been stout in the red zone thus far. I think we will get better overall, but they basically pitched a shutout last night.

I think wedge blocking always lends itself to inside backer gap control or lack thereof, but its pretty hard to stop if the offense is content with 3-4 yards and clock. The problem is when that team falls behind, it fails miserably. Just my opinion. I appreciate the responses though.

My mistake sir. Certainly wasn't try to start a rhubarb on here. I tried to preface scheme by design. I know the radio calls Graham's outside LB's , defensive ends(which is bizarre) .

Not accusing you Sir. Maybe I took your quote out of context. You wrote I agree with this assessment. The play of the linebackers needs to improve for Graham. They have talent at those positions, but they always have their linebackers up close to the line and tend to be overly aggressive at times. Sometimes they need to stay put and read and react. The RB's on the other teams are getting around that initial surge and the DB's are having to make too many tackles.

So are you saying the scheme needs to improve? The kids are being trashed on here , so looking for clarity.

Have to disagree. Bluefield a couple years ago with all the D1 kids would have been 3A in VA and lost 2 straight to LB which made semi finals, competitive yes, but Independence isnt competing with VA schools their size and neither is Martinsburg based on school enrollment guidelines. Independence would get run out of building against Phoebus, LCA or Heritage. Enrollment is fairly equal.
