If kids move to your school district because they want to play for a different school, I’m assuming you tell those kids no? “We have our teams set, so please do not move to our community and want to play sports!” Is that your motto? Nope, Tazewell motto is “We will hold you back in 8th grade and hopefully we can beat 15-17 year olds when we’re 19-20!” Tazewell is the only HS I know of that needs to declare if their players are “True Freshmen” or “Redshirt Seniors” People want to play for winning teams and winning coaches, e.g., Appo, LB, etc. Coach Palmer and Graham are no different now. When you set the tone with a tradition of winning, kids want to come and be part of winning and competing annually. Might explain why kids don’t transfer into Tazewell.

I don’t understand the “lame excuse” I said they were a good team but if plagued by penalties it could really hurt them at Graham. Seems as if we agree with that statement.

I watched the union games on NFHS and they are big and tough but I have a hard time understanding how they aren’t flagged more. A lot of crack backs and they hold and throw down the gunners on every punt return. I think they have a good team and those flags in those games would not have affected the outcome but if that’s how they play at Graham and those types of things get called, it will really hurt them.

I agree with Fairlawncat, working on getting better as a unit. ALSO, every team loves to pitch a shutout against a rival. I believe that to be a factor. You can’t honestly say you wouldn’t hav loved to see the Tornado shutout Graham. Either way, the shut down affects teams. I do concede limited practice time and workouts due to COVID definitely hurt a team. If Graham plays y’all again later, you’ll be much better but we might too. Big win for the G-men, on to Union.

Like it or not trash talking is big among this younger generation. If you’re 35+, you probably trashed talked a little but nowhere near what these kids feel led to do. I don’t like it personally but it’s here to stay. The BIGGER problem I have with it is when the game is out of reach and the winning team still feels the need to talk sh*t. The losing team has nothing to lose, they are down, frustrated, and looking for an opportunity to take a dirty shot. It’s only 15 yards. Another factor is some daddy’s want their kids to be Bad*sses more-so than good coachable teamates.

LIghten up Moderator.. Not throwing stones, not using names, not confirming acts. Twitter and social media lit up over the “alleged” incident. Can’t take the heat stay out…off the field.

Graham had a scrimmage on 8/12. Cancelled practice and workouts the next week. 2 practices for the Bluefield game then shutdown again. 2 practices and a walkthrough before playing Tazewell. I believe they will be much more polished and disciplined against Richlands. Richlands is a good team and not to be taken lightly.

Tazewell defense was simulating the snap count which is supposed to be a penalty. About 10-15 plays in the refs gave them a warning. Not a penalty, a warning!

Bluefield - JJ Davis - Princeton, Anthony Eads - Princeton, Cory Copolo - Graham, Ryker Brown - James Monroe, Will Cole -Graham, Jamel Floyd - Princeton/G Wythe, Chandler Cooper - Graham and you let the kid from Richlands (Webb) come to practice but he went back. Let’s not pretend kids don’t transfer to Bluefield. I know it hurts to be called out, but look how many of those kids helped you win State and you got a Kennedy Award winner out of it.
