    Ā

I would imagine to see several of these on All Region as well.Ā

Do you mind to share the entire Southwest district team with us (whats left anyway lol)? Or tell me where to find it. ThanksĀ

  2. Saw where lee shared that roop and Hammonds made first team and mooneyhan had made second. Three good choices for lee in my opinion. I didnā€™t figure theyā€™d have anyone above second team, but glad they did. Ā List must be out there somewhere.Ā

Lee had a good QB in their first year too that was pretty good not positive of name but think it was DayĀ

Yes, I believe youā€™re right. Iā€™m sure Iā€™m leaving out a couple of other great guys from the the first few years that lhs was opened. I am getting too old to remember back that far! I remember their abilities, just canā€™t remember all of the names. The level of talent was out of this world back then and it remained top notch until around the early 2000ā€™s if my memory serves me correctly. Not putting anyone down that came after. I just feel like it is a different for world now and MOST kids are not the same. Ā Ā

  4. Definitely a close one. Donā€™t envy the coaches making the decision between the two of them. I came to say that my pick would be Hill, then I started thinking and changed my mind to Beavers. Still not positive. Can they have two? Seriously? Iā€™d have to call it a tie if I made the decision. I feel like beavers is the more hard nosed of the two, but hill is more technically skilled. Both great players overall.Ā

  5. With the number of kids at lhs vs tw and the amount of travel ball that Iā€™ve heard that the lee kids have been playing over the years, how are they losing to a smaller school like tw? I know last season wasnā€™t the most successful for them either.
Has tw got that much talent? Is the talent down that bad for lee? (I donā€™t think Ā so because I know they have great talent in kids like hammonds and Leonard). Is it coaching or are numbers down that bad? Or am I missing something else? What is happening?

  6. This should be a great game. Itā€™s hard to decide logistically since both have many returning. I donā€™t know that RV imploded so much last year as Palmer adjusted and RV couldnā€™t hang. But this year could be different. Plus another year or experience, particularly for OQuinn could make the difference. Weather really could also make a difference in RVā€™s passing game as well. Then of course RVā€™s coaching decisions are so unpredictable. I just canā€™t decide how this one will go. Winner is gonna have to bring their A game. No room for many mistakes, penalties, etcā€¦. All these IFā€™s are what makes high school football so frustrating and exciting at the same time. Hoping I get to attend this one. Not even sure who Iā€™ll root for at this point. Can I sit in the middle somewhere????

Hell guys. Everybody will make all district anyway. There will be 20-24 players named to 1st team offense and defense.Ā

And if they donā€™t make that cut just add your players names to the final all district list anyway and post to Ā Facebook like itā€™s real. Or at least thats what a team I usually support with the initials l.h.s. did last year ha.

And the only ā€œexplanationā€ I heard was ā€œthatā€™s the team without Abingdons players.ā€ Whaaaa? Abingdons part of m7. Donā€™t work like that no matter how bad ya want it to.Ā

That vote Selection Might beĀ  split between gate city qb/ union def.cord/ chris Akers

    BahahahaĀ

The problem voting this year for region, besides numbers favoring mt7, Graham is above everyone else in swd, mt7 are all a little closer in play.Ā  The mt7 has rv that should have several,Ā  Ā a few sprinkled from other mt7 teams.Ā  Stats for some came against hogo/Cumberland/bd teams.Ā  Other stats from starters being in games late when they shouldn't be.Ā  Personally, stats VS district/ region teams should be all that's looked at. Hope 2D is playing in Salem, again with a W.

Agreed. Too many with pie schedules outside of their district/region games that use big stats gotten against smaller or weaker teams to say their guys best. And Creasy would get my vote too but Itā€™s this sort of thing mentioned above that makes me question myself.Ā

  9. LPD you sure know specifics on leeā€™s qb for someone whoā€™s a bear fan ha. Anyway yeah youā€™re right there, we had good yardage on gc and central. there was a hefty number of attempts at those games but whatever. Iā€™m not putting anyone from lee down. Theyā€™re miles ahead of what they were and Iā€™ll give credit where itā€™s due. But thatā€™s just it, some of our fans want to act like their kids are heisman hopefuls and it gets old. Alls im saying is when weā€™re getting big yardage (passing AND running) on teams like rv, union, and Graham instead of small or weak teams like PH, rye cove, and battle (while our starters are in almost the entire game) then Iā€™ll also believe that we can pull of the win Saturday. I hope Iā€™m wrong. I want these boys to make me a believer. Iā€™m closer than I was last year, but not all the way there yet. I just want it to be the real thing. Not having to play small teams, running up the score and padding our stats on said small teams, and making up honors so we can brag.Ā
sorry got on my soapbox ha ha. Ā
but like I said, Iā€™ll give credit where itā€™s due and I gotta say that a one kid that has absolutely blew my socks off is early. I canā€™t believe heā€™s only a freshman. Roop is another. I donā€™t think gets the credit he deserves.

I just think Jones is to much for Lee to overcome, Lee has some good playmakers but Jones is just to explosive. I like Va High by 2 scores. Lee played a kinda weak schedule also by playing those 1A schools.Ā

Yeah, I tend to agree with the last couple posts as bad as I want us to win. On one hand, I get that coach Carroll put some weaker teams on the schedule to help build confidence and get the fans something to be excited about again. On the other hand, Iā€™m afraid that dominating a bunch of small and/or weaker teams is gonna cost us now. I keep seeing our players getting things like ā€œplayer of the weekā€ but of course itā€™s when we ran or threw on the smaller or weaker teams we talked about above. You didnā€™t see us getting that kind of yardage against teams like ridgeview or union, because weā€™re just not that caliber yet. I think weā€™re going the right direction and itā€™s gonna be close though. Relieved we arenā€™t playing rv, Graham, or union in the first round bc we definitely wouldnā€™t stand a chance there. Also, interested to see these QBs in the same game. Iā€™m thinking Pendergraft isnā€™t even gonna compare to jones.Ā

  11. Dang, I didnā€™t realize battle was in that bad of shape. I was surprised to see them come out and score first though. Carroll is going a good job with lee and heā€™s definitely doing a good job offensively, but dang ever heard the phrase ā€œkicking them while theyā€™re downā€?? I wasnā€™t too impressed by the fact he waited til he had an almost 50 point lead before he put his second string in. We know how it feels to have the kind of seasons theyā€™re having. Besides our younger guys need some time on the field too. But hey, we got our stats up on a weak team so I guess thatā€™s all that matters.Ā

Central definitely will try and pound it out against Lee! But can Centrals defense stop Huff carrying the ball, kid is a load and runs hard! Pendergraft has been throwing it well, and can be a nightmare for some teams, with Church playing safety, he definitely will look to be a game changer in the passing game!!

    Ā

I personally think Central would of had a better chance against Union if they would of threw the ball a little more, and not try a trick play on 4th and 12, that was blew up from the start!!

    Ā

I think itā€™ll be respectable but central will still come out with the win. I hope Iā€™m wrong though. The huff kid is a good athlete and does a good job, but his big games are usually against the smaller or slightly weaker opponents. Iā€™m waiting for him to have one of those high yardage games against a tougher team like ridge view, Graham union, etc. Not putting the kid down, just saying thatā€™ll make me a believer. Ā Same thing with lees qb. Good athlete and solid qb but just not up to the level of others in the region like oquinn. Lee has talent though. some good receivers and I still canā€™t figure out why the roop kid doesnā€™t get his hands on the ball more often. Heā€™s impressed me every time Iā€™ve got to watch him. Ā  Donā€™t know much about central other than what I saw on tv last week. Definitely not as strong as they were last year. Scrappy and didnā€™t give up though. Union had so many penalties and dumb mistakes in the beginning, they made central look better than they probably are. Probably shouldā€™ve won by more than they did honestly. And Bbn I agree, central definitely didnā€™t help themselves doing that crap either. Gonna be a close one. 21-14 centralĀ

Not sure if Union could ever be considered the spoiler. Theyā€™ve been the top dogs in the m7 (minus abingdon) forever it feels like and until RV or Central handilyĀ beat them more than once they will always be the district favorite in my opinion. Too well coached to have down years even when their athletes arenā€™t as talented and plentifulĀ as they used to be.

Ridgeview will be as good as their team chemistry and coaching allows. If they can strengthen their run game to take pressure off the pass theyā€™ll be a hard night for anyone. Egos, bad coaching decisionsĀ and poor discipline may be their undoing.

Central will more than likely struggle in their first year with a new coach regardless of their talent level. Transitioning to a new offense after having an established identity might take a while for those kids to get used to but theyā€™ll start clicking as the season goes.

Lee has some firepower on offense with the RB Huff whoā€™s a hard runner and the QB Pendergraft who can sling itĀ and could very well upset Union, RV or Central on any given night. But where they are bad, they are really bad. Especially on the defensive side. Their OLBs and secondary could not tackle a soul last season and would consistently get chewed up on the outside in the run game. Interior d-line was their strong suit. As for keeping their starters in for the whole game, that is true, but Leeā€™sĀ first stringĀ are the same age as the second string guys they play against, they donā€™t really have a lot of JV guys to let develop. This years 2nd string opponents isĀ who theyā€™ll be seeing on the field next year.Ā

I know nothing about Gate City and Battle but Abingdon will be consistent as always with their unlimited pool of kids

Agree with everything you say except that Leeā€™s offense has what it takes to upset a team like Union. Not dogging their boys and I understand theyā€™re young, but their big accomplishments thus far have been against weak teams or a decent teamā€™sĀ second string. When they have a big night againstĀ RV, Abingdon, Union, etc. and it doesnā€™t happen in the second half after their first string has came out, Iā€™ll be a believer too. I hope youā€™re right, man. Iā€™d love to see Lee be competitive again. I just donā€™t think theyā€™re quite there yet.Ā

I think ridgeview will be a bust, I've heard lots of bad attitudes from players and coaches. I think Lee is going to go further than Ridgeview IMHO. Central will impress, they will upset Ridgeview in either first or second round and Central will play Graham for Regional final.Ā

Cā€™mon, you canā€™t really be serious. Yeah, I do see Lee be an improved team. But, I donā€™t see them hurting anyone with the pass unless itā€™s a weaker team or a maybe stronger teamā€™s backups. I know their coach was trying to build confidence, but itā€™s pretty obvious that theyĀ let their starters rack up yardage on their opponentā€™s 2nd/3rdĀ string, then theyā€™d celebrate those misleadingĀ stats.Ā Ā I think theyā€™ve given some people (yourself included) some false hope. I sincerely hope they do better. Theyā€™ve had some rough years.Ā I donā€™t think theyā€™re quite ready to beat teams likeĀ RV, Central, or Union just yet.Ā

Also, just who do you consider a ā€œrealā€ corner? Beavers went up against some pretty darn good playersĀ and still proved himself IMHO.Ā

  15. The fact that aĀ lot of teams areĀ losing a lot of studsĀ is definitely going to make things interesting next season. Ā Of the teams that are losing a lot, I think Graham and Union are the teams that shouldnā€™t be slept on. Ā Both teams have some solid players moving up even if theyā€™re not DI, record breaking stars. Iā€™m actually really looking forward to that matchup.Ā

I am not sure if this is the case or not in this instance, but I believe Abingdon players mess with the official all district teams that are sent on for region ranking. For example if an Abingdon kid is 1st team at a position then when kids are ranked at 2DĀ region meetings the next in line get bumped up a rank. So the 2nd team kids would become 1st team. I believe this has been an issue the last couple of years at multiple places.

I gotcha. Wasn't trying to beĀ  ugly to you. Just saying IF that is how they arrived at their pretend team, then that is pretty sad

  17. Maybe somepeopleĀ Ā think it should work that way, but that's not the way it works.Ā  Agree or not, abingdon IS IN the m7 district. that was the official team (i actually happened to see it in the newspaper this morning).Ā  Let's say what you're saying is true, who decides which one of those boys from second team moves up to first team when abingdon is omitted from the list? i get the issue of choosing region, but that doesn't change the actual team, lol.Ā Ā i honestly don't care, i just asked for clarification. but now i'm baffled. but i get it, that's what their coaches/parents told them toĀ make them feel better i guess. should weĀ give them a participation trophy too? i'm not trying to be rude to you, but if that's how lee is actually looking at it then that is theĀ most ridiculous thing i've heard lately.

It sounds like Lee might have made its own playoff rules.. IfĀ Lee can somehow rise from the ashes by losing to GC and having a worse district record, but then somehow make the playoffs, then certainly their capable of placing 11 guys on offense as first teamers in the M7. Heck, they might erect a 2021 State ChampionshipĀ banner down there.

Great points!Ā I was really rooting for Lee to have a better season because I followed and likedĀ their new coach when he was at Marion, but I definitely didnā€™t agree with their playoff trip over GC.
    Ā

i hate to make jokes about them,Ā but it wasnā€™t just one typo, it was an entire misrepresentation of the actual team and the sad part is that I think some people donā€™t know the difference. If they know anything about it football theyā€™re probably scratching their heads right now though.Ā I know that everyone will never agree on who belongs on a selected team like that, but their (made up)Ā ā€œteamā€ was just comical. Who does that?Ā
