I see this from a beginning talent standpoint.
I know it takes both talent and coaching, but which do you think has the bigger effect?I’m also more familiar with the transfer factor when they get to high school, as it is more visible.
I have a theory that some of the changes similar to the effect of when a kid transfers in high school to fill a specific position; is during the little league to middle school change when a kid is “recruited” from the class above to do the same.
Again, I know all is effective in the short-term.It’s been my experience that transfers are usually due to school politics and/or parent drama. Sometimes parents think their little Johnny isn’t being utilized to their full potential,so they transfer. Sometimes little Johnny really isn’t being utilized to his full potential when a weaker player plays over them, which most of the time the weaker player has a some kind of parent/school employee/donor connection, so little Johnny transfers. Sometimes little Johnny is just a pure athlete with a true gift at a school with a weak program, so they transfer.
That is the ole man’s take. -
Sure does. That is if they don’t transfer.

Richlands second on both baseball and softball. Surprised with baseball, from earlier posts I figured they would be battling for last seed in the district. Good to see them both do well. Go blues.

Richlands will not have a JV softball team this year. Had over 20 try out. The result being several girls quitting and taking up a new spring sport, all eighth graders are playing middle school and a 15 player Varisty roster. This should answer any questions about drama.

Did anyone ever determine why the coach resigned?
Rumor is it was resign or be fired. Apparently there are some kids/parents that didn’t like him and set the coach up. Like I said, that’s the rumor.

Richlands has never been good at Basketball, win a few, lose a few. It's crazy in SWD Richlands beats Graham, Tazewell beats Richlands, then Graham beats Tazewell. Lebanon has had quite a few good basketball teams with some good talent over the years. I think Davis is a better softball and football coach than a Basketball coach, but the talent in SWD when it comes to basketball is not up to par with other areas, never was and probably never will be.
Right now Richlands isn’t good at basketball, football, baseball or soccer. Sorry man, not sure what’s going on there, but I can only imagine that every coach, player and fan that left Lebanon the other night, left humiliated. Even if they’ve never been good at basketball, no one should take a beating like that, kids deserve better. Who is going to apply for the basketball job. I bet Ronnie Davis is feeling like a big fool at this very minute for banking on the Lebanon kid to help pull Richlands out of their downward football spiral.

Anyone know if weight lifting has began. One would think with the new HC the first thing would be to get every potential participant into the weight roon as soon as possible. I know the weather is terrible, but does anyone have any word on assistants?
Ain’t he busy coaching basketball right now and when I say coaching I mean getting the shit kick out of them. Lebanon scored over a 100 points on them last night. I’m no Einstein but why in the world would that kid from Lebanon consider transferring to Richlands. You people better hope Ronnie Davis is a better football coach than basketball because that was downright painful to watch last night.

There is no chance of a state championship in the future of the RHS girls program,
I mean… that’s an opinion. Lol.
Dude, it’s facts. It’s also not meant to insult these kids. The talent isn’t deep enough, Aaron Lowe is well aware of that fact.
If you’ve followed the girls basketball program at all, you’d know the only reason he had these girls playing so much summer league is because he was axed from football and had time on his hands. You’d also know winning games in a summer league isn’t exactly a roadmap to state for your upcoming season.
A real man would check his ego and encourage the girls to keep playing basketball for their high school. Period. Encouraging kids to sit out a season is selfish on his part and no one wins. He ain’t getting his job back and the girls will miss an entire year of their high school career.

There is no chance of a state championship in the future of the RHS girls program, maybe a district win and some regional play with the Altizer and Trivitte girls, but that’s it. Lowe is aware of this, he knows winning summer league does not equal a state championship. It’s disingenuous on his part to get these girls and their parents riled up to insinuate an unattainable success to promote himself. If he truly cares about the girls and the basketball program, he will encourage them to continue playing and discouraged any talk of sitting out a season if he isn’t reinstated. Time to prove that it’s not about him and his firing but about the kids.
There is more to this and he knows it. Making all the facts public would clear it all up and he could stop this self righteous campaign. Then, everyone could focus on the girls and supporting them. -
Graham and Richlands are still without coaches. Both of their baseball programs are struggling, Graham’s coach Ronnie Davis left those boys before the season ended and everyone knows Aaron Buchanan is a train wreck. Hope they can find someone that will work to get these teams back on track.

Any word on head baseball coach hires at Lebanon, Richlands, Tazewell and Graham?

What’s going on with Pioneer baseball. Losing to Abingdon wasn’t a huge surprise, but losing to Richlands? Really? What’s up with that?

No one is winning in this pissing match between TCBOS and TCPS. Not sure why they can’t see that the ones that are hurt the most are the kids. Instead of sequestering funds from the school system, TCBOS should learn how to handle their own budget. It’s easier to point the finger at the school system and blame them for the county’s shortfall, use them as an excuse to implement a food tax and not reduce property taxes, instead of owning up to the fact that they cannot produce a balanced budget.
