I think the Region 2D Championship and State Bid could be represented by any of these two teams: Gate City Graham Lebanon Central Virginia High Union Just basing it off the eye test so far. I don’t think anyone else can get any further over these squads. However, It will all be determined who is playing their best ball in February and who all is healthy. Should be a fun year in store for 2D

With this tournament, I am under the impression that head coaches do not like playing their district opponents, however they like to play their region opponents to gauge how they are vs the other region. My understanding is matchups like Chilhowie and Honaker vs Eastside and Burton are okay with them but Eastside vs Burton is not ideal vise versa with Chilhowie vs Honaker same goes with 2a. Matchups that include Union and Central vs Lebanon and Virginia High are okay but Union vs Central is not. Vice versa with Lebanon vs Virginia High. These are just examples from this years tournament

And of course. The third place game goes into OT with Central beating Union. Then the championship game goes into OT, Lebanon wins with a buzzer beater. back to back nights of double OT games for the main events.

yet they wonder why they can’t get the seats filled up… high school games played in the convo draw more community than the college does.

If you look at the bracket in the first round, everyone is away from their district opponents for the most part.

This was due to the outcome of the tournament. Not by scheduling haha

Same for wise county with Central vs Union for 3rd place

I think both games will down to the wire and I could make a case for all 4 teams to win. Definitely some exciting basketball that cannot be seen on NFHS. If you aren’t there, you’re missing out.

It was a defensive game for sure. Neither team could build a lead and it went down to the wire.

In my opinion a predictable first round slate with the Lee/eastside being a toss up with Lee taking it. I think the first 3 games tomorrow will be great games. The 8:30 one, not so much.

Incorrect, they returned 4 starters and now have a completely new coach with a different philosophy. Wild card in my opinion.
