The problem isn't they were allowed to do it. The problem is that the city didn't have enough respect for us to even notify us muchless ask if we had a problem with it. Hell the coach is a city employee. It's the disrespect.
Quite frankly that is a twisted way to think about it.
If the city owns the stadium and you all just rent it, then you all don’t get a say.
It's not a disadvantage/advantage to be on the field the day before nor a sign of disrespect. If Bluefield owns the stadium then it's up to them who's on it I suppose. Graham does an excellent job of getting their athletes into positions to impact a game, weekly. I'd say yes, coaching is happening. They're blessed to have a great run of athletes over the years and continue to have them. Numbers have dwindled a bit over the years but athlete numbers stay consistent. Transfers are pretty common these days, at every school. When you're at/near the top consistently people look. When you're not in the hunt, nobody cares if your transfers are good or not. Either way, they're rolling right now just as Richlands was for several years. They're not unbeatable, but dang good. Stop wasting time complaining about it and put the effort into improving to keep up. I believe vs APPO will be a better ball game just on the simple fact that they're much more disciplined than RV or anyone else Graham has played all season, since KW last year. Mix in their athleticism and simple approach, 42-38 kind of game. Good luck to both but hoping D whoops up on C.
The way I see it, Graham may pay a bundle to use it every season. But I didn’t see the harm in—who’s the town? Bluefield?—allowing this team to use it for ONE evening to practice on. From the looks of things it doesn’t appear to have given this Appomattox County TOO much an advantage.
I’ve seen videos of both teams this year. Both have speed. Appomattox County has more discipline. Don’t be surprised if some key penalties will decide the outcome.
People in Virginia Beach are jerks. I’ve had bad experiences with them.
Having said that, take a look at Kempsville’s recent program history. They were on a 63 game losing streak. Now they are a 1 loss team playing in the 3rd round of the playoffs. It’s hard not to pull for a team who has done a 180 like that.
Some people stopped aging as soon as high school was over. It’s a game , nothing more, sometimes we get confused who the “We” are as wins or losses come. It’s the kids team , not us. Union lost three/ games teams, about where I thought they would, not bad at all I think .
I love to see Unicoi County do well. Hated that they lost a couple of heart breakers. But I am not butthurt. I didn’t rub it in to Happy Valley fans or Cloudland.
It’s just a game.
I don’t live my life through their success.
Even with the Vols. I’m damn happy and proud of the Vols. But if they were 1-9 instead of 9-1 I’d still be proud of em.
My overall happiness does not depend on their success. If it did then I’d be a Bama fan 🤣😂. Lol but in all seriousness, it’s just a game.
The point is: don’t base your happiness on K-12 sports.
If there was a closure half the entitled parents would throw a fit. They’d throw a fit if they didn’t close.
You had parents saying they “homeschooled” their kids during COVID when they were just virtual. Parents probably didn’t provide them with one iota of instruction except for saying “Did you log in and do your work?” “Yeah I did.” “Good job.” Then when it turns out they didn’t and have an F for that reason then the parent would be raising cane with the school.
Kids today have no more a problem than 50 years ago. The only reason it feels that way is because their parents won’t be their parents. They’re just their pal.
The first time Gate City beat Union they made "lucky plays" the playoff loss is because of the "flu" you all will have a year to think up the next excuse!
Chest thumping over a high school game eh? Sad. Do you live your life through high school football?
I have looked at the series. It looks like Gate City used to be in a higher classification but with a smaller enrollment.
I saw multiple seasons where the former Powell Valley and Gate City played. PV won a couple of them in regular season. Gate City would get their revenge in the playoffs. Looked like that happened in 2001 and 07. Both teams looked like they were very good those 2 seasons.
I also looked at another season where it seems like Gate City was a heavy favorite in both the regular season and playoffs. Yet Powell Valley swept them. I think it was 2005.
I think Powell Valley won regular season 17-14. They won in the playoffs by a score of what? 49-20 or something? That playoff game from 05 is on YouTube. I watched a good bit of it yesterday. Powell Valley scored first. Then Gate City struck back and scored a couple times. Then Powell Valley went up like 21-14 at the half. Third quarter started neck and neck for much of the time. Powell Valley scored after a Gate City muffed punt or something. Gate City couldn’t adjust. Powell Valley took over and piled it on.
That Quarterback from PV on that team looked alright. Like he was trying to emulate Michael Vick or something.
My source has told me the game has been moved to Saturday not for weather its to give union time to see if they even going to have enough to even play. Source has said that almost the entire team has the flu now. Including coaching staff good thing we have 25 coaches. It will be decided by late Thurs if Union will forfeit the game due to sickness. Not looking good in the bear den.
That’s too bad. I don’t like seeing teams have to forfeit. Hate it for Union because if they’re all that sick and can’t play then they lose by forfeit. Hate it for Gate City because know they won’t wanna win for that reason. But it’s not Gate City’s fault. Or Union’s. That just happens.
This is going be a looooong flu season I’m afraid.
Primo's was where I always ate when I dated the woman I used to date from Erwin.
Welp. It wasn’t a good trip to Gatlinburg last night for the Devils.
We got our butts handed to us by Gatlinburg Pittman 56-28.
Most of those Smoky Mountain teams are simply on a higher level than the NE Tennessee teams. With the exception of Cosby, Cocke County, and maybe Seymour.
Lol. I'll have to get over to Erwin for a game one of these days. It's my goal to eventually see a game at every high school stadium around the area at some point.
Gentry Stadium is fairly nice. Want some pizza? Go to Rocky’s Pizza.

Saw the video. Brutal and kind of arrogant.
