On a serious note. I recall many years ago back around 1990ish Graham High had a sinkhole or something like that which was so bad the school was closed for a few months and the High Schoolers had to go to the Middle School. It was all over the Bluefield Daily. I wonder if there is any chance that thing could rear its ugly head? I remember some Graham fans on this board many years ago saying their is a cave or cave system or something crazy like that which runs under the school or something like this. My memory is way vague on it.
I was involved in the sinkhole remediation on that project. That sinkhole won't rear it's ugly head again. I have some maps of several cave systems beneath Bluefield, VA. When you live in karst topography, a sinkhole can open anywhere at any time.
It's always something with DEQ. Has to be the most inefficient, incompetent state agency in Virginia. I got an email from them last week about one of my projects that read "we're happy to report, you're review is scheduled to be completed by July 19."
The project was submitted to them in October!!!
Submitted an annual report to DEQ (regarding water issues) in February 2022. Got comments back in March 2023.
If Graham just catches the ball twice and just has 1 bad punt instead of 2, it's a 21-7 or 21-8 ballgame. Literally, 3 plays have completely flipped the script for Graham.
Or didn't have 25 yards in penalties on their first offensive drive.
Hourly forecast now shows the rain should hold off until about 4:00. Last night it was showing it would start at 2:00, but they may get this game in under dry conditions today.
Final. North Carolina 2A semi's. Reidsville 49, Shelby 14. Shelby was a 1pt favorite going into this game by Calpreps. Reidsville will take on historical eastern power in the 2A title game next week in the Darkhorses of Clinton High. I've always loved that nickname. Clinton High is the former school of Terry Holland and Willie Parker (former Pittsburgh Steeler). Reidsville is where former Graham Head Coach and longtime Carlock assistant Doug Marrs coaches as the Defensive Coordinator. I think Marrs is still there and hasn't retired yet. He went to Reidsville after leaving Graham.
Saw this post on the Radford Facebook page regarding parking:
There is a portion of the main lot that is blocked off. However, there are some makeshift lots further down and also around the side and back of the school, so there should be sufficient parking, but some may have a longer walk.
Me again: I actually live near Christiansburg and go through there all the time. Unfortunately I'm out of town for work starting tomorrow or I'd ride through there and get a first-hand report.
Seating
o Adequate seating specifically identified for visiting spectators must be guaranteed and the
location of such seating should include a buffer from home team spectators.
A Radford poster on the Va Preps site said the game will not be at Radford's field. Could be Christiansburg, Blacksburg, or Pulaski County (hope not, no NFHS there).
