  1. I thought it was kinda funny that Honaker scheduled a Highlands District team for "Little League Night"...
  2. Grundy 7-3 14-10 (advances to Regional Tournament as SWD #1 seed) Tazewell 6-4 11-13 Graham 6-4 11-11 Carroll Co. 5-5 10-14 Richlands 0-8 2-18 at Grundy...Semifinal Round: Graham vs. Tazewell Carroll Co. vs. Grundy
  3. Looked more like he was choking his chicken...um, I mean, choking on his chunky chicken soup...yeh, that's what I meant!
  4. Ladies and Gentlemen...we have a winner!!! I agree 100% with that...
  5. They have the final score listed as 77-67. Graham's "score by quarters" numbers total to 61. Individual scoring totals to 74. CC's "score by quarters" numbers total to 78 points as do their individual scoring numbers. So...what was the final score...was it: a) Carroll Co. 77 Graham 67 b) Carroll Co. 77 Graham 61 c) Carroll Co. 77 Graham 74 d) Carroll Co. 78 Graham 67 e) Carroll Co. 78 Graham 61 f) Carroll Co. 78 Graham 74 I think the only thing they have accurate in this "report" is that Carroll Co. won the game... Nice job of proof reading/editing... 7. [ QUOTE ] the best way i found out to beat vicks running attack is to use a nicke 3-5-5 defense which gives you 2 qb spys. [/ QUOTE ] 3-5-5??? The best way??? Well, heck, it should be the best way...you've got 13 players against 11!!! No wonder you are able to have 2 qb spies... Play man coverage and force ATL/Vick to beat you with the pass...defend the run...
  8. I wonder if it is the same writer that dogged WVU (WVU can't compete with the Big Boys) in his column last week...
  9. [ QUOTE ] There are good refs and bad refs.....but one thing is for certain, there would be no games without them! /quote] Heck, there are rarely games with them...usually only free throw shooting exhibitions...
  10. [ QUOTE ] Life without Bradshaw was not as good as all the Graham supporters thought it would be! hehe [/ QUOTE ] Would have been better with someone else under center...
  11. [ QUOTE ] Louisville QB pretty much lead the team. Without him they mite have a rough season [/ QUOTE ] Louisville is well stocked at the QB position...Brian Brohm [6-4, 212], the youngest (and best) of the Brohm brothers (the other two were top QBs in the state of KY and at U of L), was a freshman this past season and saw lots of PT. Here are his numbers playing behind LaFors...63-93, 777 yds., 67.7%, 5 TDs, 1 Int, and 27 rushes for 81 yards and 2 TDs. Louisville will be the NEW BEAST OF THE BIG EAST...
  12. [ QUOTE ] Quintin and Derrick Steptoe along with TJ Morris signed national letters of intent to play football at the University of Charleston next fall. [/ QUOTE ] Congrats to all three and best of luck...do SWVAFootball proud at the next level!
  13. the Graham-Marion game from what I heard (I did not go, continuing my streak of NOT going to high school basketball games). Graham won despite the officiating, beating the Scarlet Hurricane by 10, 73-63.
  14. Welcome to the board! Always good to have former Bluefieldians visit and keep in touch with the home teams!
  15. [ QUOTE ] WVU has got verbals from both the #1 punter and kicker in the country so I would be surprised if Stone signed with them. [/ QUOTE ] Not real sure about that...here is Rivals.com's Top 25 kickers and the schools they've committed to: Name RR Rating Ht/Wt Hometown Schools 1 Jordan Congdon San Diego (CA) St. Augustine Nebraska 2 Zoltan Mesko Twinsburg (OH) Twinsburg Michigan 3 Graham Gano Cantonment (FL) Tate Florida State 4 Troy Van Blarcom Orange (CA) Lutheran Southern Cal 5 Ryan Succop Hickory (NC) Hickory South Carolina 6 Merf Trout Turnersville (NJ) Gloucester Catholic Undecided 7 Joe Marcoux Ramsey (NJ) Don Bosco Prep Villanova 8 Tony Vidaure Tempe (AZ) Corona Del Sol Undecided 9 Jonathan Phillips West Palm Beach (FL) Wellington Florida 10 Zach Kutch Milton (FL) Auburn 11 Louie Sakoda San Jose (CA) Branham Undecided 12 Matt Casaday Plano (TX) Plano West Missouri 13 Jimmy Rotstein Los Angeles (CA) Brentwood School Undecided 14 Durrell Chamorro Chino (CA) Chino Colorado State 15 Kevin Kelly Langhorne (PA) Neshaminy Penn State 16 Jared Strubeck Oxnard (CA) Rio Mesa Undecided 17 Thomas Weber Los Angeled (CA) Loyola Undecided 18 Justin Brantly Sealy (TX) Texas A&M 19 Justin Sparks Memphis (TN) Briarcrest Christian Ole Miss 20 Jacob Scott Rocklin (CA) Jesuit Undecided 21 Rick Albeski Addison (IL) Driscoll Catholic Undecided 22 Dustin Daughtery Albuquerque (NM) Sandia Undecided 23 Michael Perren Texas City (TX) Texas City Undecided 24 Joe Kleinsmith Lakewood (OH) St. Edwards Indiana 25 Max Woodbury Trafalgar (IN) Indian Creek Undecided These are the two kicker/punter committments that WVU has. Neither are rated by Rivals.com and both are two-star recruits according to them: Scott Kozlowski K NR West Palm, FL Patrick McAfee K NR Pittsburgh, PA These two kids may be good but neither is the #1 kicker in the country according to any of the recruiting services.
  16. If Graham beat Carroll Co. at home tonight, the standings and games left to be played look like this... Grundy 5-2 (@Carroll Co.) Carroll Co. 3-2 (v.Grundy, v.Graham, @Tazewell) Tazwell 3-2 (@Graham, @Richlands, v.Carroll Co.) Graham 3-2 (@Richlands, @Carroll Co., v.Tazewell) Richlands 0-6 (v.Graham, v.Tazewell)
  17. Are you sure they've already made the changes? The walls looked to be in the same place they've always been just before Christmas when we drove through the "festival of lights"...especially from center to right field. That section of the wall has always been close to the road, not enough room to move it back 20 feet without doing something to the road and the road was in the same place it had always been. I'd be suprised if they moved them back during the first two weeks of January, and with the weather over the last two weeks, I know they haven't been able to do anything to them. I don't think the reason they move(d) them back is because of the lights. When they put the new lights up, they placed the poles further back from the wall knowing they would be moving the walls back to get the distances more in line with other minor/major league ball parks.
  18. [ QUOTE ] Just finished watching the game. All sheldon williams and jj. redick. Sheldon getting his 4th double double of the season in the "1st" half. and jj shooting treys from everywhere. And vt's coach getting his 2nd technical and having to go to the locker room. this game had a little of everything By the way g-man its Lee Melchionni... [/ QUOTE ] Williams should have been able to get a double-double, they let him get away with everything! He pushed off for rebounds, threw elbows everytime he had the ball in the paint, lowered his shoulders and ran over people driving to the basket. Duke needs to put this guy on the football team! The officiating was HORRIBLE...PERIOD!!! That's what I said...Melonbelly.
  19. The officials took VT out of this game in the first three minutes...3 starters with 2 fouls each. Within next five minutes, the other two starters had two fouls and another starter who came back off the bench picked up #3. VT was called for 20 personal fouls and 2 technical fouls in the first half...Duke had a mere 8 fouls and Williams got away with murder. Duke shot 34 free throws in the first half. VT played almost 12 minutes of the first half without a starter in the game...King (a football player), Tucker (a walk-on), and Krabbendam (a kid from the Netherlands) got lots of playing time. VT was down 25 at the half. Second half, VT started to make a bit of a comeback before Duke started making every 3-pointer they fired up. Carlos Dixon, VT's only senior, injured his arm and was taken for x-rays which came back negative and he returned to the game for about 30 seconds before calling it a night. Jamon Gordon fouled out with 12 minutes left in the game and Greenburg got hit with his second T with about 5 minutes to go...adios Coach. Duke ended up shooting 49 free throws, VT shot 23. Final score...Duke 100 VT 65. It was a very physical game. King took an elbow to the face in the first half and got a cut on his cheek. Melonbelly, or whatever his name is for Duke, caught an elbow in the face from Deron Washington and ended up with a knot around his eye. Unbelievably, no fouls were called on either play. On a lighter note, JJ Reddick missed THREE free throws in the first half...the most he has ever missed in a college game...way to go Hokies!!!
  20. All I can say is thank goodness for graduation...
  21. Well, right now I'd have to give Grundy the nod. They've held serve on all 4 of their home games and won at Richlands. If they can get a win at Carroll Co. (like that will happen with the Homer officiating... ), then they will win the district. If not, its still a four-horse race. I can see a four-team playoff BEFORE the district tournament even starts.
