  1. [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] The traditional school colors are maroon and white but over the years a little blue and a touch of silver have been added but I believe the official colors are maroon and white. [/ QUOTE ] It's Cardinal, not maroon [/ QUOTE ] Graham is Cardinal Red...Bluefield is maroon... [/ QUOTE ] Bluefield has always run a "Cardinal" offense and defense. When I played, first team was "Gold" and second team was "Cardinal". Now the first team is "Cardinal" and second team is "White"
  2. I am compiling Beaver schedules and scores and am looking for the following years. 99, 93, 92, 91, 90, 88, 84, 83, 82, 81, 80, All 70's, All 60's, All 50's, and any earlier than that. 3. I dont recall hearing anything about the endzone lettering outlined in blue. There was some dissatisfaction with the midlield logo and it has been modified. The field has regular sand spread in it but the black rubber pellets (actually more like rubber "sand") has not been spread into it. The paving looks to be about 90% complete in the stadium but paving in the parts of the parking lot that were torn up has just started. My guess is that the fence will start Monday, rubber will be added to the field beginning Monday, and paving will finish Monday. I would think there should be no problem getting every thing done by next Friday's scrimmages.

  5. Coach Simon's first season as head coach was in '86. He was an assistant on the '83, '84, an '85 teams.
  6. when i took pictures last saturday, all the turf was down but all the "cut ins" were being done.... hash marks, numbers, letters in the end zone, midfield logo... this tedious part will take some time. not till all the field is done will the pellets be added. when the pellets are in place there will be about 1" or so of turf. if you walk on it now youre not on the finished product.
  7. i was thinking the logo at mid field would look better outlined in white too
  8. gravel will begin around the field this week im hearing, paving the following week. after that the fence will go in. during that time, all the hash marks, yard numbers, endzone letters, and midfield logo will be glued in. after everything for the field is in place, i think there will be a layer of sand, then the rubber pellets. i believe the bags in the parking lot are the rubber pellets.

  11. when the field is done, there will be a wide white stripe down the out of bounds on each side... the line that the team stands behind. the team box from 30 to 30 will be cardinal color like the endzones. the rest of the outer boundary will be blue. i am hearing now that the center of the field will have both wv and va with the star on the bluefields' border. i cant wait to see when the field, paving, and fence are done. i bet the beaver/graham game will be "packed" this year!!

  16. not much progress on the field from last weekend but there are more ppl working. last saturday there were two today there were ten working. they are building a berm that will be the boundary of the turf. the field will be more square shaped where it was oval before. this will open up more spectator space at both concessions and in front of the stands. the field will take up some of the existing walkway in front of the locker rooms and the corners of the stands at the scoreboard end. i tried to capture this in the pictures. the field will end just behind the goal posts. so alot of the area behind the goal posts that were grass before will now be pavement. more pictures next saturday. http://www.flickr.com/photos/9247716@N06/sets/72157600569300495
