  1. I just wanted to come on here, since there are more Bluefield folk on this site, and say congrats on another trip to Wheeling. My respect for that entire program seems to grow every week. A supposed down year for the Beavers equals yet another trip to Wheeling. Win or lose, another great season, and i'm sure you'll have a few more trophies here in the coming years. Once again, congrats Beavers, you have more respect than you can ever imagine from this part of the state.
  2. Sorry about that Sources. and I didn't go to the game - I was supposed to be there to cover the game but I told the paper I was not going there. Bluefield by 3-4 TD's.
  3. Don't think they are deserving? The closest game they have had was 21 and that was Hoover at Hoover. How are they not deserving? Should they play the sad schedule you play, then would they be deserving? Weakest schedule in AA, that's not a good honor to have. And no..i'm not jealous at all, just extremely amused that a "top 5" team can't even beat a sub-pair Cardinal Conference team, that's all.
  4. Funny.. every team this season that has outsized the Big Blacks has destroyed us. Gallipolis, Wayne, Ripley all were bigger and better than us, and showed that on the scoreboard, especially Wayne and Gallipolis. We were even missing our best linebacker and still kept it close with you guys. Pathetic. We're an awful football team and still kept it close. 16 points is mismatching? I call it O-VER-RAT-ED. Of course you are supposed to be the better team, you are rated in the top 5. You are supposed to destroy a lesser team like us. You didn't. You had trouble with a 3-5 team that has been terrible all season. Doesn't look too good for you guys come playoff time if you can't beat a weak Point team.
  5. Bluefield wins by three td's. I'm sorry but if you can only beat a 3-5 team 16-14 and have to have the refs help you out to even get that done, then you aren't the football team your record indicates. Point Pleasant recovers a fumble, perfect opportunity to score, right? Referees call 35 yards worth of penalties to make it 3rd and 45, including a great play when our tailback Riffle runs for 15 yards, only to have it called back because of an unnecessary roughness call on the other side of the field on our receiver who probably can't pick up a stack of papers 'cause he's so weak, lol. That call made me laugh. Gotta love those phony calls to keep the home team in the game so they don't choke. I knew if this game was even remotely close, something would happen to keep a team from up north coming into their place and winning. Definitely glad we won't be making the trip there anymore.
  6. Hmmm....let me try to remember. First Bluefield score came with about 1:05 left on a 25-30 YD Pass on 4th down. It was a simple little 5-7 yard pass that turned into a big gain for a score. I honestly can't remember who scored the TD's though. Second score came on the opening drive of the second half, and the final score came with about 3 minutes left or so. I was talking to people in the 3rd so I wasn't really paying that much attention. Bluefield turned it over four times, one INT, one fumble when two players collided on a punt return, two lost fumbles, and four fumbles overall. Point Pleasant had one turnover, an INT in the third quarter. Bluefield seemed to beat Point with the speed, as expected. They could not get anything up the middle the entire game, all of the big gains if memory serves me correct came on runs and passes to the outside in which we just simply can not match the Beavers' speed.
  7. After 3 quarters. In JV action Bluefield scored in the fourth, and I left after the 4th, so I do not know what happened in the 5th and final quarter. Bobby Errett had a 50 yard TD catch for the Big Blacks, and Travis Riffle had another good game with a 30 YD TD catch. Point was up 7-0 for the entire first half until Bluefield scored with 1:05 left and went for two and scored to go up 8-7.
  8. I'm getting ready to head out the door in a little bit. I think it should be close, considering Bluefield's lack of expereince for the moment, and Point's experience, but you never know in scrimmages. Bluefield will win, Point will pull starters very early to avoid injuries because we have no depth. Bluefield will run it up after that IMO but you never know. BTW, Point is now AA. Player to Watch: TB/SE/S/CB/Whatever he wants to play Travis Riffle. Speedy receiver that runs a 4.38 40. He is extremely fun to watch when he gets going and is our x-factor for the season. He had about 100 total yards last week against Hurricane both rushing and receiving. Other Players: QB/LB Brandon Warner QB/LB James Casto FB/LB Jarod Stouffer FB/DE Mark Fooce SE/CB Seth Beckner(If He Plays Today)
  9. The scrimmage will now take place at 3 in the afternoon instead of 7 at night @ Laidley Field on the 18th in Charleston.
  10. We're decent, nothing great that is for sure. 5-5 last season, and well, for the two years before that as well. We have a couple exceptional kids, but nothing great. We should be a playoff team this year, but who knows. Anywhere from 7-3 to 5-5. We were good defenisvely last year, just could not put very many points on the board to help us out. Gave up 15 PPG, but only scored 14. Losing 1800 yards of offense will not help us much either. Last year was a real down year compared to the two years before that, yet we still turned out 5-5. Getting out of that Ohio conference we were in helped us out a ton. Just too bad we didn't get back in WV when we actually had something, lol. Players to watch: SE/DB Travis Riffle - Two kickoff returns last season against Wayne and Winfield, runs a 4.40 fourty, had 4 INT last year I believe. FB/LB Jarod Stouffer WB/S Brandon Warner
  11. The Point Pleasant-Bluefield scrimmage is @ 7:00 on August 18th.
  12. Yes, both teams will be playing on the turf. We play @ Ripley in week one, so our coach wanted our guys to get a game in on turf before that game.
  13. Well, i'd rather us scrimmage someone else as well. We actually do have a lot coming back on defense, just lost two key players, just no offense returning. No clear cut guys right now at the tailback and fullback position. Could be any number of guys, as many as 4 carrying the ball every game. We scrimmaged Ironton last year, which was nothing but a death sentence and we were lucky to get out of there without many injuries, so going from Ironton to Bluefield is better for us. We had ZERO business on the field with them but, when the team you scrimmaged for years (Saint Albans) cancels on you, guess you have to do what you can. I'd rather us scrimmage one of the Ohio teams across the river from us, or even have a grid-o-rama with Wahama and Hannan, but, that will never happen. Just gotta deal with what you can get I guess. Oh yeah, read on the ezboard b-ball board about your good news. Congrats.
  14. Bluefield will scrimmage Point Pleasant on August 18th, a Thursday, at 7:00 PM @ Laidley Field in Charleston.
  15. If you guys had trouble with us(Point Pleasant) then....I don't know what to say about that one. Bluefield big.
